  • Those are good grades for Russ. He only waited 2 months and thought most of them would be AU-58 at best. He has a killer eye for quality.image

PCGS has their head buried up their ass. There's a difference between tight grading and stupid grading. Hey PCGS! Enough of the "we'll be the toughest even if it means screwing our customers" crap.

You graders REALLY think THIS is an MS64?

  • Kind of a dog for a 64, but I'll give you 10% back of sheet for it.

Oh my o my o my!
Pretty little coin. My birthyear too. Hmmm...if they grade them all MS64 and under now, maybe my MS66 will hold/increase its value image

Russ.......don't become the next sleepy hollow resident now.

Maybe a new Modern Grader just started. They always wax everyone for a few weeks when that happens.

image You must be joking- New modern graders who are considered 'world class' would never flame a customer. as it was told to me - they grade em like they see them.

Nice 1968-D... I am not the Kennedy expert that you are so my opinion may not count for much on that one... just a reminder, there is a Presidential review process for situations whereby there is a disagreement over the assigned grade.

Gads, Russ ... not even close on that '68-D. Been there, done that, just recently ... I think moderns don't even rate the five seconds a side anymore. Heck, I wonder if they even take them out of the flip. Some pretty good graders continue to suffer from the heads up their arse grading at Newport Beach. This has ceased to be an aberration. It's either a misplaced tighten the screws movement or incompetence ... or, even worse, they don't care anymore.

Hmmm I remember coming back from FUN 2003 and relating in one comment that many of the dealers and collectors thought PCGS was grading tightly and hearing from a couple of you who have posted in this thread how anti-PCGS I was. image

The only two on this submission I agree with are the Ikes - and they aren't even mine. image

Oh, and line 7 is NOT an SMS coin. I suppose I should have known better since I've been through this "if it looks good stick it in an SMS holder" crap before.

Now I realize I'm fully in the minority here, but is it possible that Kennedy is accurately graded? In your pic I see a dark area on the bottom of the jaw that look like a big break in the luster. I've been told here on the forum many times that PCGS won't give any higher than MS64 to such a coin.

Last year I submited this 1954 quarter, mark-free with nice tone, and swore up and down it was a lock to go 65 or higher. In the picture I posted here was a dark line along the jawline, and a bunch of people jumped on that and said it would never grade above a 64. PCGS sent it back in a MS64 holder.

Take another long hard look at the coin when it gets back, maybe the graders really did see something you didn't.

Isn't that another way to speed up grading though?
See a "guess the grade" when the coin is on the way to PCGS and they just take the consensus and don't need to waste time?
