PCGS vs NGC which do I submitt this coin to..??

SmittysSmittys Posts: 9,876 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'm already a member of NGC, I would have to Join PCGS.
I can ship one coin to NGC, I have to send five to PCGS
Here's the big one though Heritage archives, are these prices
just because of the upward market, or are they because of
grading services??
How come ones a R3 and ones an R2..??
Help would be appreciated. Coin pictured below.
Thanks,
Smitty

Well since you won't get any free grading unless you pay for the top-of-the-line Platinum Membership at PCGS, I'd send it to NGC.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • Send it to NGC if thats the only coin you have to submit.

Are you planning on selling? If not, why slab it at all? Grading standards may be different when you do sell it, so you'll have to do it again.

If you do plan on selling via auction, you can let the auction house send it for slabbing (and ask them where they would recommend, too), then you don't have to worry about memberships, etc.
  • Can you submit it through a dealer you know? You don't have to become a
member if you can do that.

    ANACS.

Coin authenticated, problems (if any) described, coin protected, number immaterial if standards change, good service, economical fee.

I'm sending my last 10 coins in before quittin collectin altogether.

I would send it to PCGS. You will be happier when you go sell if it slabs which I assume it will.

My opinion based on my early dollars I used to collect and sell in the nineties.

It looks like there are 1,380 reasons to send it to PCGS

Put since it's an R-2 now you should do it quick before any more disappear image

I think people have much more faith in PCGS. There coins always seem to go for more on ebay. I would go search on PCGS's website for a certified dealer and have them send it out for you. This way you don't have to become a member, and waste all that money.
