Key date quarter?

Doubt it.
The 1888 Philadelphia Seated Quarter is a rare and desirable coin.
The 1888-S is very common.
So since the reverse is slick on this, it must be the rare Philadelphia quarter.
Right. That's what he thinks, apparently.
I sent this guy a message and told him how to tell the difference between the San Francisco and Philadelphia 1888 Seated Quarters by the reeding.
Lets see if he changes his auction description, or if he's trying to scam somebody.
By the way, one variety of 1888-S always comes with a really weak reverse.

The '88 P for the most part did not circulate; most of them out there are Uncs. The 88 S is common in most grades until you get to supergrade status.

Then it's an ULTRA-RARE '88-P -- one that circulated so heavily that you can't see whether it had a mintmark or not!
