Does the 'pedigree' go with the coin?

For example:
I have a coin that has the 'Benson' pedigree graded by PCGS.
If I send the coin in to NGC still holdered, and they grade it higher, do they acknowledge the pedigree?
If the coin is NGC will PCGS do the same?

<< <i>Yes, the two services will recognize the other's label for provenance purposes. >>
Not in every case. Just the major pedigrees.
The PCGS set registry pedigrees will not be recognizeed @ NGC.

My example was the coin I was referring.
I have a 1799 PCGS 'Benson' dollar in AU50.
The general agreement is that the coin is undergraded. To all but the PCGS graders.
I thought I might see what the folks at NGC think if the pedigree stayed with the coin.
I'm usually not concerned with pedigrees, but this is a nice coin.

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I need a little help from time to time.
