Welcome to the boards. Are the US-issued Philippines coins easy to find there?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Hello Kranky. I canot find the coins in circulation. But everyones mother has a small jar of them.
sometime there are real nice coins there. there's an auction every month in Manila and it is fun.

Welcome to the board. It's good to have someone from another country, and I love the Philippines. Was only there once for a short time, but I really liked the people and the country.

  • Welcome!

We just got back last Sunday from a two week visit. My wife was born there and she collects Philippine coins by type. She also has loads of different date US-Philippine coins. I think I bought her a proof last year, I'll have to go check...

  • Oooh, Mr. Tennesse Pride. That is a very beautiful 50 centavo piece. Not US Philippine, but after. If you look at the generel's name on the right, it looks like you have the doubled die obverse.

And thank you to the lead for Philippine coins. Good place.
  • Hello duiguy. Yes. This looks like a nice place to have fun and learn.

Hello DorkGirl. Nice to see another girl here.

And Stev32K, you should come back. Many who visit like the people and country like you.

And Mr. Wohlforth, the next time you and your Filipina wife come, maybe we could meet.

I hadn't thought to look for a doubled die on that coin! Cool idea, I'll look closer. Yep, not US-Philippine but here is one I have that is. image I, like many others, love this design. One member of the board here has a beautiful proof peso I hope he'll share with us.

    Cool.

Welcome aboard....my wife is Filipina as well but not into coins. I tried though.
How old are you? Are you a YN (Young Numismatist)? I think that counts up to 18 years old.
No matter the age, it is cool.

Stay and enjoy the show and learn....lot of smart people here (in many different ways) image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Hi islemangu:

That is one beautiful 10 centavo you posted there. Congratulations.

Really nice to know that there are so many fans of the US Philippines in Guam. They're great coins. Very challenging, yet very inexpensive. They're my favorite sets.

But one question: Howdo you use the search function? It never seems to work for me. Like right now, I called it up, typed in "Philippines", checked "all" and nothing came up.

And Neil, that's a nice 07-S 50 centavo. A good date in nice condition.

    Enjoy!

    Hello Bochiman:

I'm 19, and I'm in my third year of college. I got interested in coins from project in college on old coins.

Why not start collecting the Philippine coins because your wife is a Filipina and she will colect them with you.

    Mr. Marocvan:

Do you want holed US Philippine coins, too? We have them.

    Donna

justhavingfun....thank you for the nice words on the 10 centavo. Was lucky enough to get that one from Tonelover so he really deserves the credit for somehow finding coins like that. He also sold me a toned proof 50 centavo that I can't stop looking atimage

Dont know why the search function is not working for you?? Keep trying as very useful. Also, when I said "here" in my first post I meant CU boards not Guam. Guam doesn't have many coin collectors, Kock fighting seems to really drawl in the crowds here similar to the OF image
