Coin magazine recommendations

What are some of the better magazines out there for quality coin articles and accurate pricing?

I just bought a 'Coin Prices' from the local book store, and it had one of those 'WTC Silver' ads, and another one from Littleton telling me I can have 3 'scarce, seldom-seen' coins for just $3.95. Thus I assume that is not one of the magazines that seasoned collectors gravitate towards...

Thanks!

I really enjoy Coin World myself and I get the impression most board members here do also from what I read. I think it's educational and
    fun at the same time.

As far as the monthly magazines go: Coins (and its sister, Coin Prices) are aimed at beginners. Coins magazine contains a price guide that covers commonly collected coins and grades, while Coin Prices contains prices for many more coins and grades. I think that most beginners would enjoy reading Coins magazine for a year or two, before they outgrow it.

As I recall, Coinage tends to have better articles, but I don't think it has a price guide.

As for the weekly newspapers, Numismatic News is published by the same company that publishes Coins magazine and it contains the same price guide.

Coin World is the industry leader and its price guide Coin Values (formerly called "Trends") is the retail guide almost everyone refers to. I think you can get Coin Values as a separate monthly magazine.

So, as far as retail price guides go, most folks use Coin Values. As far as good articles go, I'd say it's pretty much up to you. I prefer Coin World to Numismatic News (I know some folks who prefer NN.) and I've heard several people praise the quality of articles in Coinage.

By the way, don't judge a publication by its advertisers. It's true that Littleton doesn't advertise in Coin World, but, as many will tell you, there are some bad apples in Coin World, too.
