Coin World - Digital Photography

I was perusing the January 10th edition of Coin World to find a new series addressing Digital Photograhy. This should be of some interest to us amateur photographers! image

Excellent Article!! Does anyone have a link to the first (Part 1) article?

This would make a great Coin Photography reference thread for the forum, if someone could append the articles and archive them.

FYI if anyone is looking to buy these lights kits mentioned in the article expect to pay about $268 per each sinle lite kit at B&H. B&H does not carry the 2 lite kit but buying them as single lite kits is still cheaper at B&H than the 2 lite kit where I could find them available.

After reading the article and rerigging my existing regular lightbulb setup I came up with these:

Is it just me, or does anyone else find Heritage giving advice on digital photography rather amusing?

Here's a very accurate and detailed image that I found while surfing through E-Bay.

I am not connected with the seller, and the coin is not one that I find attractive, but nonetheless it is an incredibly detailed and excellent photograph of a Cameo PL Morgan Dollar!!

This is the kind of definitive photograph that helps you to decide whether or not to make a purchase.

And absolutely void of any luster. The only time diffused lighting should be used on silver coins is when they're proofs.

Well, it's not like you are hurting for money. Get a decent camera and setup and you'll do much better.

It's time. And lack of ability with things like cameras. Somethings I fail at miserably and cameras are one of them.image
