How do your price PL Morgans off the Greysheet?

We had a thread about pricing XF-45 coins (i.e interpolation, graphing, etc.)

What about pricing a PL Morgan? Greysheet has DMPL but no PL prices. You have only 2 data points (MS and DMPL), so you can't interpolate on Excel using numerical methods. One way I get a rough estimate is to take the ratio of (PL-MS) over (DMPL-MS) from the PCGS price, multiply it by Greysheet (DMPL-MS), then add the result to the Greysheet MS price. Crude, but probably in the ballpark.

Any other methods or rules of thumb used out there??

    The blue sheet helps!

  • What if you are too cheap to buy the bluesheet? image

Even with the bluesheet, you probably need to do the same thing I did with the PCGS values. Using the bluesheet values might be more accurate, though.

Then you ask here for all the answersimage Seriously....see what they sell for on ebay, dealers sites or step up and pay for the sheets. There is no right answer but a combination of all the above will greatly help.

  • I've seen a listing somewhere, not that it means anymore than DMPL prices. For starters I take the most recent

sales prices off of the Heritage website historical data. Obviously, NGC and ANACS coins must be considered sight-seen

because their definitions are different from PCGS definitions (ie. an ANACS DMPL with 5" reflectivity is PL at PCGS, etc.)

Your right, Cameron, and I frequently cross-check greysheet values from auction prices realized on Ebay, Heritage, and Teletrade on a coin I am seriously interested in.
  • Thats about as good as anyone can get. You are doing it right thenimage

  • I frankly don't give a lot of premium to "PL". DMPL/UCAM...different story
