Be gentle.....I'm sure it was just an oversight....AGAIN!

All I know is my last submission (2 GSA's) to NGC was recieved - graded - and shipped in less time than you have been waiting for them to just enter your order.image

I think the problem is that they're just getting back from vacation. I sent an email to Cosetta Robins last night and her automatic email response said she wouldn't be back until today. (I suspect they'll have a lot of backlog to deal with.)

Well I got the "we are short staffed" and "we have been very busy" along with "there was a holiday you know"...

If there was more competition that was on the same par as PCGS they would be forced to offer better customer service. They know that the majority of people will put up with it because there's not a lot of choices so they don't strive to make that a priority, it's not like everyone's going to go across the street. Poor customer service is one of my pet peeves. If I receive lousy customer service I'll go out of my way to avoid that place. Unfortunately I'l put up with a lot of crap because I like their slabs.

I haven't personally sent anything to be graded yet. I do have my 1909 Indian Quarter Eagle in an NTC slab that will be there after Mark Feld gets back from FUN (I hope) so we'll see how that goes.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

A whole lot of submitters have been moving in that direction.

Marty, you should be making an argument for freebies. It's not your fault that they are short staffed. These are days that you are missing because they cannot hire enough people. I understand the idea of "We can't find enough qualified graders or the ones that are qualified that don't want to move to Southern California". As hard as it is to believe, I can accept that. But order entry is a totally different story. We are not needing a specialized person to open packages, enter the coins into their computer, file the paperwork, and put the coins in the next available slot to go to the graders. Heck, even I can do that! And if they pay me enough, yes I would move to Southern Cal to do it.

  • "We can't find enough qualified graders or the ones that are qualified that don't want to move to Southern California".

That probably is more like "No one wants to work for what we are willing to pay."
Humm, maybe they should offshore it to Mexico, India, or some other country like everyone else has been doing.

My second submission across the street is going out today, no more soup for PCGS.

I'm willing to bet they were swamped with orders sent in to try to beat the price increases.
I sent in 5 myself that I KNOW got there in time, but aren't "in the system" yet (like yours).
I just hope that we still get the "old rates" because the coins were to them before 1/01/05.

Many of the forum men have that problem image
  • Marty I have had the same problem as you. I have three submissions that are not found within thier system that are almost a three weeks old. Keep me updated on your results because I was going to call in a few more days.

"shipped out an order 12/20 and it's STILL not in the system"

I commented on this a while back in another thread and someon said "not".

Maybe I'm showing my NYC/NJ roots here (e.g. sceptical) but I truly have come to believe they sit on orders prior to entering them...because the clock doesn't start ticking until it goes in to the system. They do this more so with the $30, $50 and $100 submissions -- just milking more money out of me -- ooops!! -- for the same level of service (I've tried the $50 and $100 FASTER options -- not doing it again though -- a sucker bet -- sticking to the somewhat bearable $30 level).

Anyway, the sitting on orders is analogous to how the airlines improved their on-time departure/arrival ratios -- they simply tell you the a flight froom Boston to Newark is 2:10 minutes when anyone who's ever flown that route knows it's never longer than 49 minutes image

And most of you are right about why/how they can do this -- we all know the joke about why a dog licks his ... image ... belly image ... because he can!

"I have three submissions that are not found within thier system that are almost a three weeks old"

That happened to me -- but I caught them the last time: I had packaged up two orders in one package and one was entered and the other one was not -- then suddenly it showed up with a date almost 2 weeks after the first order. I then showed them sequential submission #'s and the proof that they were packaged together. Suddenly, and I quote the conversation(s) "it was downstairs under special review...we apologize for the delay...now that's it's upstairs we're going to fastrack/expedite it...7 business days later I call...the order is still in grading...I asked why...they said 'we only received it on the 29th'" How do you even begin to make your case image

    Guys, here's the REAL story.

My coins were received on 12/21. I finally got thru to Cust Serv yesterday. I was told that PCGS is having problems with their automatic outgoing email system - the emails aren't going out (obviously). We checked my submissions and they were entered as of 12/23.

That's what I was told and it makes sense ......

I'm not talking about receiving the e-mails...I know their system is broke. I had packaged up 2 orders in one shipment (9033040 and 9033041). One was entered, one wasn't. In fact, I had already received one of the two orders back grom grading -- shipped on 12/21 -- and the other one still wasn't even entered in to the system. It is now in the system as being received on 12/29/04 when it's cousin in the same package (9033040) was graded and already shipped by 12/21 image

    << <i>What did they say Marty? >>

they probably told him where he could stick his short-staff!

  • They actually called me, they explained to me it was all Marty's fault. He keeps sending in weenies and that gets their people all worked up and they forget about entering stuff into the system. Just blame Marty for all the delays!

In my case I forgot to give them a check. Sheesh, they can't take a joke image
  • When I heard about the price increses I sent in a box, plus had a dealer send in three more at higher level. Funny, the
dealers coins are already here, mine are due sometime in Spring!
