1913 toned buff?

What does everyone think about this Buff? is the center to dark? I guess it would be hard to tell unless you had the coin in hand. image

It has some attractive toning, but you are not going to get rich on it, and for a 1913, it's not that unusual. You can figure on this piece selling for about the normal price that one would expect to get on a 1913 Buffalo in whatever it's grade is. The coin is probably an MS-64 or 65.

I think its a darn nice buffalo and it should get a decent premium if offered for sale graded or raw.

I like the eye appeal and do not think the center is too dark. However, I do think that a lot of light was used to generate that image and, as such, the colors will likely not be as vibrant in-hand.

Great observation I think alot of light was used to image this coin as I noticed the light around the outer rim of this coin as well, and I think needs to veiwed in person.

  • Nice Buffalo. Do you have a pic of the reverse?

Very saleable and desireable coin, raw or slabbed.

If you can wait for it, get it economy slabbed if you think its a shot-65.
  • Looks cool.

The extra light could have been used to compensate because it seems the surrounding area is also white. This will cause the lens to not allow as much light into the camera which forces dark pictures.

You really have to have the coin in hand to tell.

I think it probably looks 100 times better in person as the majority of the pictures I've seen lately in XXX's catalog and online auctions are dark and lifeless in comparison to the real coin.

If you are talking about the XXX I think you are talking about...I agree. image

EDIT: However, this doesn't look like a picture from the XXX I'm think of. lol

Where is this coin from? It looks like an ANR auction, but I can't find it.
