I saw this nice Buffalo 1937-D PCI AU53 cleaned and the more I looked at the picture the more it just didn't look like other ones I have seen. I dont's see the flat spot on the front of the head, none of the hoof shows, and the raised spotted line from the stomach down doesn't show up very well. Any comments on whether the coin is the real thing?
Thanks,
Charlie

Ok I just check out your attachment.....it looks good to me, but I have never owned one.
Here's one I found with google.
Notice the hoof is still there, and the leg is missing. The coin you questioned does'nt look entirely like this one.

Could be the lighting though.

It could just be the image. But usually there is a raised line under the buffalo (looks like he's peeing) and I haven't seen one with the rear leg so weak nor the hoof looking "removed" as it does in the image.
Hard to tell from that image, but I don't like what I don't see.
Those dots from the ..uh...belly have been present on all I've seen.

Exactly.....This is caused by the fact that the buffalo on the genuine three leg is actually a little smaller than that on the norm.
I think he was the runt of the litter !!
Here's an example of one that doesn't look quite kosher....Note the motto almost touching the buffalo's back.

The last link at the bottom of page 1 to a "bad" 3-leged bufalo is real too (but damaged).
Go read up about the coin before posting.
