About what? The Dimple-Dollar or the Mrs. Potter Palmer token? (Try and say that name three times in a row!)

We can thank Mrs. Palmer for making the Isabella Quarter possible and then more common than it otherwise would have been. Mrs. Palmer suggested that the Board of Lady Managers take the $10,000 stipend that they received from the government in the form of commemorative quarters, which would be sold at the fair at a premium. After the quarters failed to sell as well as had been hoped, Mrs. Palmer bought up a large block of them, which saved them from the mint's melting pot.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Bill that is a pretty one. That coin deserves a thread of its own.

    hey Bill

about the Morgan, of course. lieutenant, the coin was bought around November 10th so it should have been graded by now. more than likely Monofcoins is close to the truth.

here's a link to the coin.

I just looked for the original thread, but just like my recollection of the events, the thread has vanished. Do the forum moderators also have the ability to erase the details of the thread from my memory? image

If they do, that would explain a lot of my own lapses. Think they have this power outside the forum?

i PM'd SM1 and he says he didn't move it, but admitted that it's in fact been moved. imagine that?? his explanation---remember, he knows nothing about who moved it---was that it got too nasty, but i don't have the recollection of the thread being any worse than a number of others which have been untouched. i figure someone made a request and was honored with a move.

the longer i remain as a member here the more insight i get into the membership without even having to interact with them.

    Me too!
  • If I recall correctly, Dog nuked the thread because it was the only way a bunch of Texans who PM'd him would STFU.
