Selling toned coins- E-Bay vs. Teletrade

I have some toned coins that I am considering selling. Toned coins are going for crazy money, but it seems like Teletrade's Rainbow lots seem to bring out even crazier money. Has anyone else noticed this and do you think this is the better way to go?

They are certified. Morgans and other modern coins.
  • T.T comes down to the pix they provide..............most of their "RAINBOW" stuff is not even close to what a rainbow coin really is. when it comes right down to it ; i'l bet the very same people buy -be it on T.T or Ebay................but a real monster rainbow brings out the deep pocket heavy guns no matter what the venue image

I brought this up because the last couple weeks I've been able to get some nice common date/high eye appeal toned coins off of e-bay for decent prices. In Wednesday night's TT auction there was a fairly common date Roosevelt dime in MS67 with nice toning. I bid twice as much as the realized prices for that coin grade, but then the bid went twice as much as my bid and I was dissappointed. I can't find the coin on the site anymore (not sure why, it's no longer in my tracked lots) so I can't link the auction. Just wanted to know if this was becoming the norm for TT for rainbow lots.
  • ........I THINK WHEN A COIN IS NOT SOLD (bought back by consigner) , it vanishes from their files !

December is usually lower realized prices than January or previous November - up to 25%

Comes down to how good is your picture -

if you can not snap excellent shots, you may consider consigning to some board members who sell on eBay
  • It will take a little work, but try researching price history on TT and Ebay and compare. The challenge will be getting enough price points for certified toned coins (and finding them!). Without, doing reseach, I suspect the TT coins are doing better (especially MS66 Toned Washers), but you have to cosider the fees and juice as well.
