Does Heritage shoot their retail division in the foot by doing this?

It's really nice that Heritage lists previous auction prices realized above most coins in their retail inventory. A great service which is invaluable and much appreciated. However how eager are you to buy a coin for the $85 they're asking when the last three recent sales brought $42, $54.05 and $58.65? You can find examples like that on just about everything.

I have no problem paying a high price for a coin that suits my needs but I must admit to clicking the back button more than a few times after seeing the data presented.

Just my rant for the evening.

The information would still be available in the archives so what's the difference?

Ever notice that they don't provide that information in the listing on "JH Exceptional" coins?

A lot of people don't know that function exists. But for me, having the numbers right upfront like that can put a damper on my impulsiveness.

You have to look at the coins. An archived low price for a "how did it get in that holder" kind of coin is not helpful when I am trying to find a nice for the grade coin. And the really ugly ones for the grade always seem to be offered for sale at one venue or other.

It is obvious that Heritage believes the market is ready to move higher and the demand is "out there"...that or there is a "Next Bid Meets Reserve" bug in their system that needs fixed.

do they still have the 'make offer' function on coins that have been listed for sale awhile?

did you check the pictures of the previous sold? one may be the coin you are looking at
