Okay...edited.
There is a rather decent chance that I am dying of lung cancer, they found it Friday when I went to the hospital after a car wreck. Regardless of whether this is treatable, operable, whatever, I am getting out of coins. I am very moody and very testy right now, and nothing comes out right. I am tired, don't want to be bothered, and want to get everything out of the way so I can recouperate or die in peace, either way. Basically I don't want to be tied to the computer and doing business, having to worry about all that crap. I want out. Now.
Sorry if I ticked people off with my statements before, I just don't want to type, don't want sympathy, don't want hugs and kisses. I just want to be left alone.

Good luck.
My assumption is you have a health problem. If you do I wish you all the best and truly hope you will recover completely very soon.
If health is NOT the issue, then you are really turning a lot of board members off with what you just posted publically. Were you not going to Washington DC to do some work for the Smithsonian? Were you not in the process of writing more books? Do you not have a major coin web site? If your problem is personal, like your marriage or family, you should not have written what you wrote on the boards. You have a public following now and you need to grow up. A person who has spent as much time as you involved with Numismatics can not just "drop it". It doesn't make sense.
I do not know you personally other than buying your latest Lincoln cent book. I hope you will read this and reconsider. Life is too short. Steve

Chuck,
Sorry to hear of your implied health concerns and dis-interest in Numismatics.
I find the quoted statement above a little disheartening to say the least. I guess it implys that any friends you have here should just forget you ever existed and ignore your previous contributions to this forum ? Sheesh !
We can't know what's going on in your personal life but i find your

statement a little corrosive to the online community you chose to interact with and share your knowledge. It leaves a kind of "spit on us" feeling to the speech IMO.
I hope you come out on the other side of all this in good health and better spirits.

Oops!
I would think dying of lung cancer is a health problem. I want to get all the coin stuff behind me so I can spend time with my family. I am in extreme depression so I want to be left alone...is that good enough? Like I said, I don't want to be disturbed any more than I already am, so I asked that people only contact me so I can get the business end of things out of the way.
I hope that's enough. I didn't necessarily want to go there, but oh well.

Snow has to make coppercoins smile!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I think you have been, and are, a very valuable asset to this online community. Your knowledge of Lincoln Cents is unsurpassed.
Unless you really haven't given a sh!t about anyone or anything in your time here i would think you have enjoyed your membership ?
Surely the other members here care about your knowledge and your health. People get to know one another over time and consider each friends, even if it is only in an online community.
Your situation is definitely very serious. Your Friends here are entitled to worry about you and express their concerns. If you choose to not reply then that is your prerogative of course. I would hope you would accept replys to your thread in the best intended sense.
Your newly discovered health problem is certainly a shock, and definately something to feel depressed about, but it's nothing new to Doctors. I'm sure there are treatments available ? People beat Cancer every day.
Please accept the Well Wishes that your Friends here give you. Keep a positive attitude !!

My dad had a lung cancer scare early this year. Fortunately, they found it early, and they are confident they got it all with his surgery -- and got it all before it could spread. So far, so good. Cancer is scary stuff, but it can be beaten. And as above, determination to beat it and a positive attitude improve the odds even more.

There are several kinds, some more agressive than others. I only hope, that, if you do have it, it is one that is not agressive.
Save all the courage and stamina you can muster to fight this disease. DO NOT even think of posting here until you've received a clean bill of health. And if you feel you need it, by all means, get some counseling. Your wife may want to join you as well. Do not try to face this alone.
Sometimes when it seems most dark, and hope seems faded, you can actually see the light the best. I have faced my own mortality several times in my life. Your state of mind is so important right now. I can tell you from experience -- hope, determination, a strong will and constitution as well as the love of your family are the most important tools you can have to battle through this.
You can always call me -- you have the number. I wish you and your family the best right now.

6 years ago I was misdiagnosd with congestive heart failure and given 6 months to a year to live. Not what you expect to hear when you are in your early 40s.
There was a lot of pain and grief and it was totally unnecessary.
Best wishes.
