    Eric,

They aren't being held hostage....they are being pampered at the PCGS Spa image

So they are soaking in a jacuzzi full of chlorine?
  • I had some done with the new form that took 28 days and another with the old that took 55. I think they need a calculater out there to add up the new fees!

    "held hostage"

so the coins were taken from you without your consent
and are being kept from you until you submit to some demand or pay some form of ransom?

    no?

you say you voluntarily submitted the coins? and paid the so-called hostage takers?

I thought my answer was pretty funny. In fact, I find the whole premise of this thread rather amusing.

  • Well, if you sent them in for economy service then they have come clean on the site and say that the current ESTIMATED turn around time for economy is 65 days. Sounds pretty close to me. image

Eric, that was Baley's sense of humor image

But, you do know that it takes time for them to pass around your coins, holding onto them firmly so they don't drop and get damaged, without gloves, right?
They have to make sure the fingerprints take hold before slabbing image

I wonder how well PCGS stores these coins while they are waiting to be graded? I'd be nervous that any brilliant silver or copper coin could lose some pizzaz while residing 66 days in a plastic flip. Moreover, PCGS seems to be becoming more consistent on regular service at the expense of Economy. As a result, for Regular service one could save 50 days in storage limbo. Since the difference in grading costs is about $11 per coin compared to Economy service, the extra costs of the faster service works out to about $0.20 per coin per day. For all but the least expensive coins, this seems to be worthwhile option, along with going elsewhere, I suppose.

The grader that fingerprinted your last submission is on vacation and they want to make sure you get a matching set so you have to wait until he comes back.

The REAL question is whether they'll give him consecutive serial numbers for those. image
