Forum registration...how long for someone to get their password in an email?

I had a friend that signed up for this forum. At the end of his registration he got a message that said he had to wait and be approved before he could post.

He registered on Thursday. Any idea how long it normally takes to get that email?

When I applied for my alt id it only took a day.imageimage

Seriously, when I joined a couple of years ago I waited for a week and then I had to email customer service. They appologized and sent me a password a day later.

When I signed up way long ago it took what seemed a few seconds. I guess things take longer now.
  • Economy sign up service is now 93 days !

  • I think mine took a few days or maybe even a week. I thought we were in the computer age but I guess if it taked 3-4 days to clear funds into a bank account then we aren't really there yet.

Maybe someone should start a Lurking Service. Then they could post questions for those signed up and waiting.

The delay is by design, to make sure the registration isn't from someone who has been booted off the board. Of course, there are a few second IDs being used now of previously banned members, so perhaps they used a different ISP to sign up.
  • It's been awhile now, but I seem to remember waiting for around a week and then writing an email to an admin. Then it was there only about 24 hours after I sent the email. I thought perhaps something had been lost or overlooked. I had lurked for probably 6 months and when I finally decided to take the plunge I was disappointed that I wasn't able to just jump in and make a fool of myself immediately....image
"Lenin is certainly right. There is no subtler or more severe means of overturning the existing basis of society(destroy capitalism) than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."

Took about 4-5 days for me (relatively recently).

The most entertaining part was that the password they sent me was semi-obscene! (Don't ask what it is....I still use it cause it makes me laugh.) image

Or maybe just an unstated second chance, the powers that be bending a little without admitting to it.
