question about gold coin

Why would a dealer rub (hard) a gold coin between his fingers. Does it make the luster more attractive??? And is this an accepted practice?

It's called "thumbing," and it's not an accepted practice. The grease from the fingers can be used to hide light scratches.

You hear more about this practice with silver dollars, but it can work on gold too.

It also rates an instant body bag from the services.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. • And is this an accepted practice?

Yes, it is accepted practice, from dealers like this:
