Newmismatist stopped by our office tonight to chat and show a few coins. Actually, he brought a few hundred coins and 90% of them were toned Morgan Dollars. We imaged a few and I thought that I would share his 84-O with you. I will post more later (with his permission). Holy smokes.........does he have some killer coins. He says that he left his "A-Box" of coins home, so this must be the B-material. Man, I can't wait to see the "A" stuff. We had a lot of fun looking at coins. Now I am going to take him to Tre Cugine, our best Italian restaurant, since newmismatist is a fellow Paisano.

Now he just showed me a black emerald-green Morgan with textile toning. Unbelieveable. I will post a pic later. I am hungry.

Ron has some very nice toned coins. He had a number of them on display in an exhibit at last summer's ANA show in Pittsburgh.

We just had a fabulous dinner at a REAL Italian restaurant and are back looking at coins. Just wait until you see the images of these babies................(but not tonight)

Nahh - I made Dennis use a bib when he ate the pasta, but I don't know if the slabs are water-tight - there's a he!! of a lot of droll all over my coins - Dennis will post a few more of the the toners tomorrow - If he learns how to use the darn camera, he may be able to post a couple "B" quality Peace dollars for TPN

We imaged about 20 coins, but the images just do not do justice to the true beauty of newmismatist's coins. I can't even post some of the better toners as the images just could not capture the zip-bing-bang-pop. Here are a few just to keep the angry mob pacified. I will post more over the next hour. I will save the toned Peace Dollars for last, just to tease TonedPeaceNut.


We had many different toned Jeffs to image, but this was one of the neatest ones (neon green). Much nicer than the images show.

Believe it or not, the above 2 coins are not the same coin. Both 1881-S and both a beautiful blue irridescent, yet different coins.

I know....I know......the images aren't that great. Hey man, proof copper is one of THE toughest things to image through plastic.

Dennis forgot to mention the "sheet' of textiling that runs diagonally from 10 O'Clock to 6 O'Clock. The coin is dark emerald green with plum highlights floating on irridescent black - never seen anything quite like it before (although I do have another irridescent black coin that is designated as PL).

Too bad Dennis can't take nice photos


Seriously, with many of these coins it's almost impossible to capture the actual look. If you catch the color, you loose the luster, if you capture the luster, the color's not quite right - and if you happen to catch it just right, the glare from the plastic ruins the picture. maybe we should just crack these babies so we can get it right

Those were mostly Newps from Baltimore and Palm Beach - a couple of those may sneak into the "A" box - Most of the good stuff's in the bank right now - I'll have to dig it out for my FUN Exhibit & maybe Dennis will photo a few of them before we all head down to Ft. Lauderdale for the Jan FUN show. It was -2 here this morning in Michigan, so I'm thinkin of going to FUN several weeks early

Post the dates - if it's in late Jan/early Feb, there's a good chance I'll WANT to go - it's below zero here again and winter doesn't start 'till Wednesday! Maybe I'll go for a month!
