I remember at a Long Beach show about six or seven, maybe eight years ago seeing a dealer's case with three super low grade, problem free PCGS 1893-S Morgans.
They averaged in grade from FA02 to AG03 and the prices were something along the lines of $500. to $600.00 for two of them with the better of the three selling at around $750.

I believe one of those two FA02's I saw then is for sale now on eBay.
Check out how much these have appreciated over the last few years!

PCGS FA02 1893-S Morgan

I also remember the Three Legged Buffalo nickel was going for about $400. in XF40. Now they're well over twice that price.
Can you name a coin that's duplicated these hugh gains within the Series you collect?

0 bids. We don't know yet if it is "worth" that much.

Pat, I was buying proof 36-42 Walkers in 1999-2000 and sold them, with most of them going for double or near double for what I acquired them. I believe I sold the last one in 2002. I remember taking a lot of ribbing from the local dealers and coinguys telling me how limited the market was for them and I would lose my shirt. As far as the 93-S Morgan it will probably continue to increase as will the 16-D merc and other such coins.

MS63 1892-CC Morgans were less than $1M closer to $500 (CW Trend $750 9/02), now they're over $2M if you can find them.

I agree with IrishMike. I also bought my proof walkers and mercury dimes in 1999-2000. Nice PF65 dimes were going for $125 then. Then they shot up to $330 overnight. Now I see they have backed down some.

Nearly all pl and dmpl morgans have escalated rather sharply within the last two years, with CC dmpls leading the way. Many have more than doubled just this year, and many can't be found at any price.

Just off the top of my head...

I bought a 1909-S VDB ANACS AU55 on ebay from Heritage right after they started lising on ebay (about five years ago). I got it for the opening bid with no competition at $525. It's worth about twice that now.

Also about five years ago I bought a nice raw AU 1928 Peace dollar for around $130. I believe I could get over $300 for it now.

Not a key, but also about five years ago I picked up an 1884-CC Morgan in NGC MS64 for $80. That's more than doubled too.

I could also list a bunch that haven't really moved at all over the same period. Some say the market is hot, but it's only hot in certain spots.
