  • << <i>For many, it's more important to avoid receiving a retaliatory negative from a bad seller than it is to warn others and take the feedbck hit. I say that, regardless of whether that's what happened here or not. >>

He could have taken the hit. His rating is 580 and 99.8% positive. Leaving positive feedback and a positive comment ("great seller") was selfish and gutless. image

Well, Big Greek not only did not neg the selle >>

I read the whole thread for that,, its like a bad movie, gone bad. Get a rope!!!
Need something designed and 3D printed?
  • Big....Uh....Little Greek. Come on over here so I can bully you around and take your lunch money.

At least I know you won't tell on me.
A 1943 copper Lincoln will still only buy a gumball out of the machine, but you can purchase the machine and the store with that same cent.
  • I'm mildly stunned. BigGreek entitles a post, "Slimeball Seller Alert." And he practically proves -- proves -- this fraudster doctored his photos. Then what does he do? Leaves the "slimeball" photo doctorer positive feedback, calling him a "great seller."

    Pathetic. Truly.

  • He still has a chance to redeem himself....has not left feedback on the Walking Liberty Yet!

  • << <i>He still has a chance to redeem himself....has not left feedback on the Walking Liberty Yet! >>

Well, TUMUSS, your sig line is appropriate for the thread at this point!! We will see!!
  • Still no feedback left on the Walker: Link

Come on, "kool hands", grow some stones and neg this fraudster!!!
  • I brought this to the top because BigGreek was logged on and responding to other threads. I thought he might want to enlighten us on the current events of this thread!

  • << <i>

<< <i>Good idea. Use the 80 character as follows: "Seller uses Doctored images to hide defects in Coins - Refund, Seller kept $6"

The seller will reply with some BS, then you can reply to that with more detail in a follow-up message. >>

Well, Big Greek not only did not neg the seller who perputrated the fraud which was the subject of this thread, he called the scumbag a "great seller" (See Dec. 22 feedback left for donald115):

Big Greek, Why the hell ask the forum for advice on this when you wimp out?? This sucks!! image >>

That was for the peace $, in this case he acted correctly and refunded me with no questions
asked. The issue is the Walker. In this case he did refund me but I had to resort to paypal
complaints. I'm still not sure the seller deserves a neg since he refunded me. The refund,
although not complete, did absolve him to some degree. His story as far as the images was
that his scanner distorted the image and hid the problems. I don't have proof that his distortion
was intentional, although it appears that way.

BTW, sorry I didn't respond earlier to this thread. I haven't been checking the board as much
    over the holidays.

BTW, I also want to mention that I had a few coins for sale during the last
week and I didn't want the retaliatory feedback (which I am sure to get) to
scare off my buyers. Now that those sales are done, I can look at this once
more. I'm taking a look at the Chinese ebay thing.

I got my money back. But now I am starting to have second thoughts on neg'ing him. After all he did refund me so what right do I have to neg the guy? I'm not worried about retaliation, I just want to do the right thing.

The right thing to do was neg. him for both coins, due to doctored photo's and report him to ebay.

    BigGreek - Wednesday December 22, 2004 9:44 PM

    He kept $6 for shipping.

The dude STOLE $6 + the return postage from you.
How much is he going to steal from the next buyer because of doctored photo's?

    BigGreek - Tuesday January 04, 2005 9:07 AM

His story as far as the images was that his scanner distorted the image and hid the problems. I don't have proof that his distortion was intentional, although it appears that way.

How covenant that his "scanner" hid ONLY the problem area's of the coins.
His quote from the Peace dollar auction "CHEEK IS NICE AND UNCLUTTERED" This proves that he was lying & the pic's were doctored.

Feedback ONLY works if you tell the truth.

Just wanted to post the retaliatory feedback I got from this guy:

Buyer uses auctions as an approval service. King of bad buyers. Complete jerk.
    Seller donald115 ( 536) Jan-04-05 17:27 3944589058

Coin NGC certified as MS64, sold as MS64. Sellers, avoid this liar buyer. Jerk.
    Seller donald115 ( 536) Jan-04-05 17:24 3944619220

Sad thing is that I left him positive feedback on the first coin and negative
on the second coin. He leaves me negative on both. Plus he calls me a jerk.
Now I am actually glad I neg'ed. I'm just sorry I didn't neg him on both coins.

He also called me a jerk in his reply to my neg. I would like to get the last
word. How does one reply to feedback?

  • Well if you post replies to the retalitory negs (which you should), you can say several collectors and dealers on this message board concluded the images were altered, and reference this thread.

  • << <i>He also called me a jerk in his reply to my neg. I would like to get the last
word. How does one reply to feedback? >>

In the feedback forum, you can post a reply to the retalitory negs.

Also, you can post follow-ups to his replies to your feedback.

    The saga continues...

    here's the last e-mail I received after the exchange of neg's. I haven't
    responded. I don't think I will.

Dimitri, you just couldn't let this die could you? Well, since you seem intent upon keeping this fire stoked, let me throw some more wood on the fire for you. I will be referring this matter to my attorney on Monday morning. I will ask my attorney to advise me regarding the filing of a lawsuit for libel and defamation of character for the untrue feedback you left on my eBAY account. You didn't leave opinions, you made accusations, which violates feedback rules. I wish I would have never softened and issued you a refund, but then again, that will look good to a judge/jury. I am sure they will wonder why you would attack me after you got what you wanted. I would like to know the names of the people at Collector's Universe who supposedly told you my photos are doctered. If it's a fight you want, it's a fight you'll get. Govern yourself accordingly. Don Esterman

I would reply with this: image Get this slimeball for everything you can. Also, if I remember correctly, ebay does not prohibit accusations in feedback, but simply recommends avoiding them and making factual statements, which you did. If it's not too late, file postal fraud charges. Don't worry about lawsuits - the guy probably wouldn't know an attorney if it slapped him in the face. He's the one who needs to worry about judicial proceedings.
  • To all you sellers. The feedback will not change anything. Only you can clean up this ebay mess. Example I bought a collectable on ebay. After six months I neged the seller. So he sent a empty box with rocks and toilet parts. This was witnessed by the UPS driver as I opened it in front of him. ebay hide behind thier privacy clause and could care less. I dropped ebay and all my fustrations ended. I would much rather pay retail from a coin dealer I trust than trust ebay. Now my fustration is not really directed at the seller because even if its a one time screwup on his part. He is still a crook. But ebay allows this to happen and quite frankly I hope someone takes away thier market. Sorry but ebay sucks in my opinion. But Iam just one guy. sellers may not like my account, but quite frankly we both lose.
  • On the previous thread wjc283 left concerning the ebays listing for 1910 S penny. It appears the seller donald115 tries to cover his deliberate misrepresentation. Notice how he indicates in his ad for this item..."MARKS ARE FEW AND VERY WELL HIDDEN". Very well hidden....BY HIM. I agree, avoid this seller!
    ebay 3946965908 1910s Lincoln

Sorry, I misquoted the seller's description of the coin in his ad. The ad states..."MARKS ARE FEW AND WHAT IS THERE IS VERY WELL HIDDEN." (Sounds like an admission of guilt to me)!!

I sent the following to eBay. It's worth a shot, I guess.

In both of these feedbacks the user donald115 refers to me as a "jerk". This is a vulgar term which I wish to have removed from my feedback.

In addition, for item #3944619220, the user also refers to an investigation through his attorney.

Both feedbacks are also retaliatory in response to my negative feedback left on item #3944619220.

The user has also sent me threatening e-mail and I would like to ask that eBay consider deleting his account. This is the e-mail I received from the user:

  • If you have not already done so, you should save copies of the doctored images from the listings on your hard drive.
  • Well donald115 relisted the 1941 Walker using the SAME photo's after telling BigGreek "that his scanner distorted the image and hid the problems."
He also relisted the Peace dollar but it didn't sell.

Original listing 1941 Walker sold for $299.00

    Relisted sold for $194.95

He did change the description a bit.

    Just a reminder.

  • I wouldn't be surprised to see it come up for auction again.
That coin was a real dog for a MS64. The problem with plastic
is that once a TPG screws up, the error stays in the market
forever and makes them look bad. OTOH, when they undergrade,
the market fixes the problem very quickly.

If I were a TPG I would look for these overgraded coins and
buy them to take them off the market.
