  • I have seen several of these types of coins with this type of toning. It is natural and comes from years of sitting in the original Canadian velvet boxes. I sold one a few months ago with a similiar type of toning in an ANACS slab. This coin looks NT to me.

IMHO, I believe this is natural toning; I used to have a bunch of these, and the leather/cloth holders they were issued in caused the coins to tone quite rapidly. The toning was spectacular, if you like that sort of thing.

Looks 100% NT to me, I was thinking about bidding on it. I've seen much wilder color on the same date, comes from the little sponge in the black box.image

I just bought one in Canada last month. The dealer had several rainbow dollars...he sold them for six bucks!!!! Obviously in Canada there is not a huge prem for rainbows. heh They are raw though and not graded coins.

Here are the holders...see on the left of the holder - that is a sponge.

Those are some beautiful colors!! I found a 1971 canadian dollar in a local pawnshop with very similar colors (I think I paid about 10 dollars for it)- but not quite THAT attractive......
