Man 'o' Man! What type plastic is NGC using for their holders?..

I'm crackin' out some coins tonight and it's like chiseling through bulletproof plexiglas... Figuratively speaking of course.image It's some tough stuff. They used to crack fairly easy at the seams.
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

  • Their new slab has a great sonic seal. They are harder to crack.

In lieu of that, a vise and a hacksaw.

Plastic is plastic, the stuff ain't kevlar.
"Lenin is certainly right. There is no subtler or more severe means of overturning the existing basis of society(destroy capitalism) than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."

  • vise grips through the base of the insert, where it takes a dang good squeeze to connect. then a major WHACK on the floor and the bottom 2/3 will just wiggle it's little self right off...after 10 or 20 thousand cracks it's get to be an art. and, safe when done with precision WHACKIN and a gentle retapping back to the center of the slab innerds...zip-zip-zip,wiggle,gently fold innerds until coin delicately lands on the velvet coin pad...POOF,fix problem,etc,submit.....most all ngc coins will go same at pcgs, lately lots of stars we've gotten upped. no star..but COZY profits...heh...munny fer nuttin, chicks for free.....

  • I had my first crack out today... after 30 minutes with the hacksaw and getting no where... I pulled out the hammer and smacked the top portion of the slab off with one hit, and then used a butter knife to gently pry the plastic apart to get to the coin... image Hacksaw - 30 minutes to get no where... Hammer and Butterknife - 2 minutes image

That's what I use with a standard cutter. Goes through plastic like butter. But it's best to not go through the plastic filler. Just the outside edges.
