I was looking at their Lincolns yesterday and was wondering the same thing so I emailed him and asked if the black CW holders were considered raw. I got a very brief reply saying yes, they are considered raw.
"Of course there will be no returns allowed on slabbed coins."
I have thought about this. Its as if the seller is trying to convince you that the opinion on the slab is more important than the coin it contains. The coin is what it is. Either you like it or you don't.
Whatever happened with some of these sellers to the old common-sense-good-business standard, "you can return the coin to me, no questions asked, within (stated # of days) and I will refund your money?
Of course.

I have seen this fellow's auctions before, and could not make myself bid on any of them.
He comes off as so "CRABBY", that I can just imagine a hard time waiting to happen. I don't need that and he is not the only person selling what I look for.

I agree. I don't much care to do business with sellers who take the attitude that THEY are doing YOU a big favor by giving you the honor of buying (or bidding on) their coins, and that said attitude is used to justify customer-unfriendly policies. These people are often more concerned about a making quick buck than about nurturing lasting business relationships which can bring repeat business. There are too many good sellers -- both traditional dealers and the "wannabes" (to use Lauraspeak) -- to waste time on the ones who cop an attitude and won't stand behind the coins they sell.
I can understand his point, although I wouldn't buy from him. Isn't that the main reason the grading companies developed? To have a 3rd party give the coin a grade and you can buy it sight unseen? However, we know that this isn't always the case and there are nicer looking coins and worse looking coins with the same grade of wear.
If he showed it to, and I quote... "It is in a VG10 Holder but i showed it to slabber they said Fine 12." ... well then, why the heck didn't he have the slabber slab it as Fine 12? Wouldn't that be worth more money, more profit, etc, etc?
Yes he states his policy up front but, that is such a freaking turn off, he's too negative before you even bid!
I've run around 200 coin auctions in on Ebay in the past two years, I only had two requests for refunds. If you run honest auctions, you do not need a "no returns, 15% restocking fee, I might take it back", policy.

There is a lot of truth in this! Think about it!

"Do you count this one as a slabbed coin regarding your return policy?"
We do consider this a slabbed coin
Thanks,
Ed
Why is that surprising? They state their policy up front. As long as the pictures aren't misleading, I don't have a problem with it.

I'd stay away.
