First Submission - Wife dorked it

Got my first submission together for PCGS and gave the wife the package with the explicit instructions to send it out registered/insured. Since I am at an APO, it can be a little trying at times to send and receive stuff. The wife came back from the post office where she had to wait in line for 2 hours...she wasn't a happy bunny. Anyways, the clerk or she screwed up and the package got sent certified/insured/return receipt.

What'll happen when PCGS receives my package?

They'll remove the coins from the package and process them. Registered mail is just prefered, you *can* send them first class insured if it tickles your fancy.
  • they will accept it ,should be no problem,I have sent them first class mail insured
  • kewl...I guess I'm just a bit anxious as its my first time. Thanks for setting me straight.

Now the wait begins to see how I did...

Do they email you when they receive them and when they've been graded and then shipped or do I just need to keep checking the order status?

I've also sent coins in first class non-insured without a problem.

PCGS will e-mail receipt of the package, a second one when the grades are complete and a third when it ships back to you. You may get a 12-14 hour jump on the grades by checking online before they send the confirmation e-mail that grading is complete.

  • Well, they _used_ to send an e-mail. From my experience they no longer
send out e-mail when they receive the package. image Can someone verify
that e-mail is still going out on receipt?

I sent in 3 submissions which they received 11/23. They did NOT send an email saying that they received them. In reality, I could care less that I didn't get an email saying that they received them. What I look forward to is having the invoice # in email so I can keep checking it without having to memorize the numbers each time I send in a submission.
  • Tmot,

mine were received in the same timeframe according the tracking
of the USPS. and like yourself, no e-mail..

    Feh!

I am at an APO Box also, and had a shipment to send See Thread.... too. The clerk advised me Registered from an APO Box could take 4-6 weeks to CA. I insured it for $1,000 and sent it Priority Mail.

So what is in your package?

2 hours? image Apologize to your wife AND thank her. image

Try to relax/calm down - there might be a very long time period involved before you get your coins back. Forget about the submission and think about other things that perhaps you do have some control over.

PS - were your "explicit instructions" written? If not, you might consider that in the future.

PPS - I'd also recommend changing the title of this thread to something more complimentary about your wife, especially since you don't even know if it was her mistake.image

    Coins, I'm guessing.
  • nothing special just a dozen statehood quarters.

Based on what I already have purchased and what they look like I might be lucky and get a couple 69s back

Where are you at? Most of our APOs don't even have Registered Service!

Oh, and apologize to your wife too! image

Good luck with your submission. Dave

I sent the last quarterly freebie submission first class UN insured! They received it and processed it with no problem!
