Ngc PF 65 brown. Should be a purple color designation. The scratch on the reverse is on the holder.

I really love the way these matte proofs tone. I'm working on a set with similiar toning. I figure I should have it completed in about 10 or 20 years. LOL

Coppercoins, The coin is brown when looked straight on. Only when it is tilted does the toning come to life. I have heard this is quite common since they were usually stored in tissue paper.

It does look like several other tissue toned matte proof Lincolns I've seen. It also sounds like it when you described that the coin looks brown straight on and you need to tilt the coin to bring the toning to life.
