Time to nip a nasty rumor in the bud (ACG suit)

It has come to my attention that there is a nasty, untrue rumor being spread around the coin shows, and particularly Baltimore this weekend. I have now heard of this rumor from five different sources. The rumor has it that I:
Settled the lawsuit with the Hagers and ACG -
Sold my Morgan Registry set to pay off the settlement -
Can keep my website up until the suit is totally settled
That I gave names and email addresses to the Hagers to file lawsuits against -
That I will testify against those people I supposedly named to ACG -
That I will stop complaining about the Hagers and ACG -
These are all absolute fabrications. Now I know why they inserted "Thanks to Eric Tillery" in their Coin World ads. This has been done to turn my friends and business associates against me. It's not going to work, and it will be a cold day in hell before I settle with Hager and ACG.

Good luck Eric. It sounds like Mr. Hager is attempting some back door tactics to get your goat.

Wow, now think about that for a moment.
1. What does that say about someone who initiates a law suit against someone else for allegedly creating lies to drive them out of business and then doing a very similar thing while the lawsuit is still going on? As Bubba's mom said to Forest, "Are you ignorant or just plain stupid?"
2. What does that say about the lawyers representing the accuser actually allowing their client to do something like that when the lawsuit is still going on?
I would think that the defendants lawyers will be very interested in this.
I think if it were me, and the lawyer approved, I would take out my own one page add in Coin World to make it clear there is nothing they should be thanking you for.
Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.

Nothing has happened since they filed the amended suit several months ago. As far as I know, none of the additional named defendants have been served.
<< <i>Eric, another small donation will be on the way to you shortly.

Thanks Jerry, but additional contributions aren't really necessary right now, and I don't want to give people the impression that I'm looking for contributions.
There was a famous defamation case in which the plaintiff had a credible case, and prevailed. For damage to his reputation (which wasn't exemplary), he was awarded 5 cents. Thereafter, he was known as "the man with a nickle reputation"!

I'd hold out for a quarter. "The man with a two-bit reputation" sounds much better.
Searching on eBay....

Including the ANA?
ACG has a much lower profile these days. I think you should take some credit for that.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Is that an ACG Morgan Registry Set you have ???
Just Kidding .. Keep up the good work as you have, as you know, many vocal supporters as well those lurking in the shadows ..
It is just a slimey act from slimey people.......... perhaps they are starting to feel the ship going down.
Best to you, Eric, and thanks again!
back to the suit....
and after you win a trial you have to show damages and thats the hard part
case in point...about 10 years ago earl campbell wrote a book ( actually it was a ghost writer ) and earl said a few untrue statements about me in it.....i was NOT happy with him...i talked to my atty who said gregg ...your right and he is wrong....now lets talk about the damages...since his book sold about 25 copies...exactly what do you think the damages are to your reputation....my answer was "nada"...and he said then thats what your owed...so how much do you want to spend to get nothing and correct an error that had no impact on you
as far as the acg suit....what a joke this whole mess is and a waist of the court`s time not to mention eric`s too.....it is obvious to me the court needs to learn about the coin biz.....but i do want to mention something to think about....i have had only one encounter with an acg coin...it was on ebay and was a 1884-s in ms64 and the ad said ..the coin bids at 90,000...the seller obviously got no bids...and at the auctions end he emailed me and offered it to me at 6,000....hello....whats up with that
well lawyers will tell you common sense says that an 84,000 discount is ridiculous and should tell you all you need to know about agc and the seller..............thus the old adage of cavet emptur comes into play here.....problem is damage to newbies is already done and the hobby loses another collector
sometimes i wish i was an expert witness to this whole mess

Rumors are just that .................... Rumors, and they aint worth spit !
Until something is proven it's all just garbage.

<< <i>They should be advised of this by your lawyer, and Coin World shouldn't print that ad again unless your name is removed. >>>not necessarily so....all media hides behind the 1st ammendment and the right of free speech....thus they just report what was said and not responsible for the statement itself as it is the person who made it reponsiblity...this has been tried at the supreme court level numerous times..personally i dont think the 1st ammendment is absolute...it needs to be refined to encompass some common sense......yesterday on the news i heard of a 7-11 that was robbed of " 3,800 in cash".....well mr reporter....why dont you tell all the thieves how much money they can have on hand so they all know .....how would you like it if your wife was a counter clerk there and thanks to you she got a gun stuck in her face...would you still go around telling everyone how much money they have on hand when your reporting the news???

DITTO!
As far as them using my name in their ads, the matter has been forwarded to counsel.
As I have been doing for some time, I can't comment on any particulars in the suit under the advice of counsel.
power to ya!
