I just picked up this Kennedy off of eBay:
SP69 1998-S Kennedy
These generally sell for anywhere from $250 to $290. holdered in the 69 grade.
Can you identify the reason why this one sold for a little over $200.?

<< <i>Title says NCG, not NGC >>
Ding!! Ding!!! Ding!!!!
Less collectors caught this auction thus fewer bids.
I made the same mistake a couple of years ago listing a 1974-S NGC MS68 Ike as an NCG. It sold for about half what it was worth. I know, because the buyer instantly flipped it back on eBay where it garnered the higher price!
Ever since then I'll check NCG on eBay and will turn up a score.

<< <i>I think it is SOLEY because it is in NGC plastic instead of PCGS plastic. Just my thoughts. >>
Same Coin. Same Grade. Same Holder. Closed at 35% more. Within days of the one I purchased.

I made that statement because I have seen similar coins in opposite holders have a disparaging gap in prices.
<< <i>I remember when these were selling for $300 plus. However I see that on Teletrade PCGS coins were selling for $240 so this price seems only a little low maybe more along the line of 10-15%. >>
What about Teletrade buyer's fees?!
(eBay doesn't have buyers fees.)
Really, even with the low price of $240. when you factor in their fees this one on eBay still went for a 20% discount. Plus, that $240. price was on the low end, even for Teletrade.
Does anyone really believe had this Seller simply listed this coin using NGC correctly in the header vs not, it would have sold for the same amount?

Maybe now is the time to snatch these up?
I can't see them going much lower.

So I think, at least in my situation and taking into account my preferences, the PCGS coin would have been the better buy. But I did not want one at all so it is really a moot point other than to have something to talk about on this thread!

Pat, my guess is the ones that sold at $240 were the reserve and given the price of the PCGS coin with only two bidders it would confirm for at least now that the price has reached a new recent low, regardless of the reasons. I can remember Heritage auctions where $300 was the reserve. I think its obvious that the two sellers on Ebay and Teletrade set their reserves to reflect the reality of today's price. I would speculate that a $300 reserve would not be met at the present, its the way of the coin market. Who knows if the price will return?
Lastly Pat the $240 was for a coin graded by PCGS so factor in the discount for an NGC coin and I still maintain my number is correct.
