That's only the second PR69* UCAM I've seen for ANY coin. The other was Marty.

How did the coin get that kind of toning?
Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my hard drive?
  • It was in the orginal velvet box missing the obverse capsule.

  • I thought such coins were inelegible for NGC's star. From NGC's website:

"There are a few exceptions in which NGC will not provide a star designation: It will not be applied to coins grading less than MS-63 or PF-63; as the ultimate grade, any coin graded MS-70 or PF-70 will not be eligible for the star; nor will coins graded MS-69 or PF-69 dated 1979 and later receive a star. NGC believes that such a designation is not applicable to these coins which typically are made with a high quality of manufacture."

  • The graders must have thought that the toning would make this coin an exception to the rule.

Agreed... sometimes NGC does apply a star for a coin with, say, exception strike and luster, but that has too many hits to call a 67... I think they say, the no star on technical exception... eye appeal, is probally a different story...

Not true -- I have 3 -- Ike, Kennedy & Washington Quarter. NGC certified a bunch of 3 piece 1976 silver proof sets as PF69* UCAM as well as a bunch of other Ike $.

  • The above mentioned dealer who shall remain nameless sold me a paultry PR68 coin which in my mind looks awesome! This coin must be a total knockout in hand. Of course - the above mentioned dealer who shall remain nameless so that no hint of promotion can be gleaned by this post, also sent his PR69* after receiving my PR68...

Please say hi to your wife, above mentioned dealer who shall remain unmentioned image
