That's the world renouned Mr. Platinum youd be talkin aboutimage
  • I see nothing wrong with his opinion, If he has had that bad of experience I think I would be upset enough to let people know about it. Does anybody here totally disagree with him? Probably not, I'm sure not everyone here has had a few problems with Pcgs it's to be expected.

When a cutomer is very happy they will tell about 5-7 people.

When a customer has a bad experience they will tell EVERYONE!image

Edited to add: Thanks BOOM, after blowing it up I see that's his ID so I guess it is his copyright.

Well, IMHO He's wrong on several points, and not very astute in making business decisions. Examples: If he's being discriminated against by PCGS, why did he keep sending all those coins to them for grading? It's a free country, after all. Furthermore, if I read my last "Coin World" correctly, DHRC IS selling PCGS graded coins. I think he should pursue another line of work.

BTW: I am NOT a coin dealer, nor aswsociated with PCGS in any way. image

Glenn, that's his copyright. That's his ID. Yes, he may have a legitimate beef as we all know there are certain issues to be dealt with around here. The latest thing was kicked around just yesterday....about how they no longer email us when our packages are received and how this is viewed as yet another way of getting out of "Guarantees" AND the vouchers for everyday they are late beyond the "Guarantee."....the Guarantee for the Guarantee.image

It has nothing to do with getting out of guarantees. Geez, you people see a conspiracy around every corner. image It's a technical glitch in their system that has been sporadic and ongoing since the day they implemented the notifications.

That reminds me..... the phrase "first strike" is just as irritating to me as other burned out terms like "choice", "monster toned", "blast white", and "undergraded"...... image

I find it funny that at the bottom of his auction he states, "Coin grading is very subjective, and everyone has their own opinion"...I guess his "opinion" and PCGS's "opinion" don't agree and in his eyes, that means there is a conspiracy against him by all the "insider's".
  • I will add this fact to the thread. In May of last year I went to a local dealer and went through two rolls of 2003 silver eagles. I picked out 5 of the very best he had that in my opinion MIGHT make 68 tops. I didn't hold any hopes of a ms69, but of the six I sent in 3 made 69, one made 68 and one made 67.......and I don't think I'm an "insider"......but then again, I just can't see the difference in the 68 and the 69s. Maybe I got lucky......

Odd to look back at a thread like that. The first thing that came to mind is the instability of Silver. Everbody rants and raves about beautifully NT silver. With the natural properties of silver being what they are, it should be a given that NO piece of silver will remain totally White and spotless, under "Normal" conditions. It would have to be kept in a humidity-free vacuum.

Mr P was upset with the seller, but as I read the thread today I saw it in a whole different light. It is PCGS that graded and certified these as MS 69. They obviously were not this way when they were slabbed!

Where, then, does the real blame, IF ANY, fall? People!! WE are talking about silver. Is it really anyone's fault?. If you cannot keep pristine pieces of 99.9% pure silver, spotless, encapsulated in the top TPG company's slab, then it tells me that it's utterly impossible.

99.9% PURE silver in slabs and they still spotted! I think that fact just answered a lot of questions regarding ultra-grade WHITE silver coinage! Regarding the series I collect, I can now see why most 67 and higher SILVER is toned to some degree or another.

Take for example.... If TODAY, the first PCGS 67 1955-D Washington Quarter was made do you have any idea what it would be worth, given the huge difference in premium between 65 and 66? OK...and let's just say that it's White. If what happened to these Eagles happened to that Pop 1 Zillion dollar coin, I'd say there would be a slight problem, now wouldn't there be?image

  • << <i>I'm a "professional" full time dealer and still, 832 of these came back to me in MS-68.

This goes to prove that all the coins I submit to PCGS do not come back a 69.

People ask how could this happen to me being a full time professional coin dealer? >>

Personally... I'm thinking "Full-Time Crappy Grader Dealer." Some people on here are really good at picking out the 69s... they know what PCGS looks for... apparently he hasn't figured out what they are looking for yet... and he probally just sends in bulk coins and doesn't even check them first, which is why he gets the 68s...

Hahaha I love the little flash animation he has "ebay...bid with confidence...triplexotica is an offical platinum power seller....with 3500+ positive feedback...and one retaliatory negative from an arrogant seller"...image

So, is he a banned member now, or did he just take his ball and go home?
I haven't seen him post in quite awhile (not since a few pissing matches he had with people over in the registry forum)

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

but then again, I just can't see the difference in the 68 and the 69s. Maybe I got lucky......

I don't think there is a significant difference..... I think that's why some people refer to getting a 70 as "hitting the lottery"....
