just bought a new book...... And have some questions...

Hello everyone,

I've bought "walter breen's encyclopedia of united states half cents" and I have a few questions.

First, is the book still accurate, or was it a stupid buy.
Second, There are CMM numbers in it. What are those numbers??

IMHO buying a book is never a stupid buy!!

I've got myself a Breen book and find it loaded with info. Buying coin books is never stupid, unless it has nothing to do with anything your interested in.

It's a great book and THE book to get on half cents. The CMM numbers are the regular Cohen numbers from the 1971 book The Little Half Sisters by Jerry(?) Cohen and are the standard numbers used by collectors of half cents today. (The C #'s replaced the older G or Gilbert numbers. So far the B or Breen numbers have not been adopted by the half cent community.) Cohen had one or more co-authors who helped with the book and Breen is listing all of their initials. Just ignore the MM and think ofthem as C #'s and you'll be fine.
