It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

<< <i>Heck, I thought they just made it up as they went along. >>
Actually they do sometimes. I had comps refused by Mike Sherman because he felt that the graders needed an "extra day of rest", even though they worked that day.
<< <i>So the submission I sent in on 10/1 is only about 20 days through the 45 day time period? >>
Blackout days only apply to guaranteed submissions. Economy and modern are calendar day "estimates."

<< <i>Economy and modern are calendar day "estimates." >>
Wonder if they will use my submission to adjust their "estimates"!!

You coins shipped out 3 months ago!! To Russ!!!
<< <i>You coins shipped out 3 months ago!! To Russ!!! >>
I was wondering where those came from.
Russ, NCNE
<< <i>They wouldn't have shipped them to Russ - there weren't any JFKs in the bunch! >>
Like Russ cares!!! Free is free!!!
I've come to believe the calendar means nothing to PCGS and even less if you are a nobody with an economy submission.
I will never accept the idea that certain dealers don't get preference. All submissions are equal, but some submissions are more equal than others(apologies to George Orwell).

Baltimore is a 3 day blackout. Wed., Thurs. and Friday.

If you have an economy order in house for that long - have you called customer service for help?
If so, what have they told you?

I PMed her saying the same thing!!!
<< <i>Gee- ha sanyone at pcgs ever worked on a Saturday? I mean if they say 45 business days for that econo submission- does saturday count as well? >>
Saturdays don't count as business days, which is not relevant to economy submissions anyway, since they are estimated - not guaranteed - based on calendar (all) days. The graders do frequently work, though.
Russ, NCNE
I took a chance by going econo- I guess I get what I paid for.

Are you sure you won't do one for December?

Using Marty's calendar my 15 day made it out in 6 days. My other 15 day is stuck in Marty's calendar. Both were sent to PCGS in the same box, same 15 day service, and logged in the same day.
I don't get it. My last 15 day took 25 days(Oct submission) (Did get some free grades out of it), so maybe they work averages.
I think they just pull boxes from the shelf!

You must give them more business.
I thought that about other peoples orders before.
I really don't think that's it. I really think they just pull from the pile.
They may also have been trying to make up for the long oerder in October.
In any case, I'll take the quick order.

I swear that is what they do! I have had a modern economy order get done in 10 days, and at the same time had a 15 day order take 2 months!

As I said, it was over a year ago. I actually got the coins back right before Thanksgiving last year. Customer service? Isn't that an oxymoron?
Yeah, I got the runaround and I got lied to. Stories changed and they were impossible to reconcile with one another. It got to the point where I was just hoping to collect the insurance instead.
During that same period I sent in and received back a couple of orders, economy type and one made it back to me in 29 calendar days.
I know they were very busy, but....... come on. I have to think it just kept getting put back in favor of more "important" customers and it was just a case of my order being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The customer service people are very polite on the phone but, in my experience, do give calling submitters the run around. As an example I submitted an world order on 6/30/04. I started calling at the end of August. I was told that things were backed up on world orders and not to worry. I called every week through September and into October. Same story. Twice customer reps promised to actually go check and call me back. I got no calls back. Finally on October 22 I got a call from one of the managers (I think) explaining that there was indeed a problem with my order.
My complaint isn't that there was a problem with my order. In fact PCGS made good on the mistake. My problem is that that it's obvious to me that PCGS knew there was a problem for a long time, during which I was calling them, before they finally admitted it.
Doesn't inspire confidence.

<< <i>My plan is to send 6 in for crossover on December 16th. Since I will be gone for the holidays, I DO NOT want them returned until the 8th of January. >>
Send them economy and you won't see them until June!!! Actually, 15 business days is always about 30 calendar days at PCGS... Unless your using express service or David Hall enslaves Santa's elves I don't think you'll have a problem...

I can assure you that no one is picking up your order and saying "hmmm this deadhorse's order put it in the back" I can tell you that guaranteed services come before non guaranteed services. Your name is not on the order so no one knows who’s order is who’s.

Except mine, I hear for that Carol visits them in person and moves them to the back!!!

Rob,
I have to stick up for the department a little!
The fact you were not called back is not acceptable. I can understand that sometimes when the office is short staffed (shows, holidays, etc.), it could take a day but if that is not the case, you need to contact the customer service manager. She can't correct problems if she doesn't know.
Customer service does not know if there is a problem with your order unless we're told, we can only see what is on our screen. If I had to guess, the customer service rep found out about the problem the same time you did.
When you call us, we do out best to get you accurate information. When someone calls on an economy order that's been here for 20 days, I'll tell them it's still processing. If someone calls on an economy order that's been here 90 days, I'm going to the operations manager.
At anytime you feel like you have a serious situation that is not being recognized by the rep you’re dealing with, call and ask for a senior rep or the manager. They may still give you the same information in some instances, or they may, from experience, try a different tactic to get to the bottom of the situation. Don't hesitate to ask for one. It also becomes a teaching opportunity to the other rep.
