Is one brand of scanner better or worse for bringing out luster in coins?

What are the recommended brand and models of scanners for us coin people?

  • Most scanners don't bring out the luster like we would like, so most of us use digital cameras. They work much better and you can take them anywhere and use for other things also.

Scanners are quick and dirty for coin photos, but it's not what they were designed to do. Your best results are going to be with a camara and a lot of practice.
  • Hi,
I am way to lazy to use a camera. I use an Epson Perfection 2450 slide/photo scanner. I like to think I get reasonable results image I can not capture luster as others have pointed out - very difficult - but I think it might be possible if they weren't slabbed.

    Best,
