That is really strange!
Planchet flaws?
Those aren't all raised lines from die cracks are they?

I'd say this is one of the last few strikes before the die utterly crumbled.

Nope the lines are not raised
It also has what I would call "acid rinse" surface

Date looks too high up. Counterfeit?

Tough to say but have you considered it was the end of an ingot that was rolled
out with slag on it.
There are often some strange surface on the shield nickels.

I agree with Clad ... the lines look incuse, not from a broken die, the date is known in that position I believe (similar to FS#003.3 - 3rd Edition)
In the end it looks like a terrible planchet ... which would be a really cool find!
