Morgan folks opinions please

Sell says MS64, yet in description he states slight wear in hair.

I can't tell yet between weak strike and wear

Opinions please

On first glance the coin looks like it could be a 64.
    When in doubt, don't.

From the pic I'd say soft strike but too many hits for a 64 62/63 IMO.

Hard to tell from such a small picture. Looks 63ish on obv. and 64 on rev. maybe. I'd pay no more than $60 for a common date such as 98-O. Nice coin though.

Looks like MS-63, although it could make 64 on a good day. I really like the look of the coin, for some reason.

63+, not too much wear, but weak strike....Theres a few stray marks, but It could holder 64 on a good day. I really like the look of it too...I would be willing to pay a slight premium on coin with that much eye appeal.
  • thanx all,

I have a 62 and a 65 PCGS, this coin certainly looks (from the pic) better than the 62.

the weak strike stuff confuses the h**l outta me.

I need a raw coin for my album and I'm gonna try to get it for 60 money, I'm using greysheet dated 09/10/04.image

I would guess it's a 63, but the reverse toning is really cool.... the only way I can discern between weak strike and wear is to have the coin in hand and view it at every angle with a good light source- then I can usually spot any breaks in luster and subtle changes in the color of the metal.....

Definitely an Ms coin, Looks solid 3 , if the marks around the obverse near and in front of the face are not as prominent , then I think it has a decent shot at 4.

  • Your question seemed to be whether or not it was uncirculated (not the exact grade). Is this correct ??? If so, it certainly seems to be uncirculated. As to grade .... perhaps 63 or 64 as most have said.

Looks like a 3 to me, with a soft strike that this date usually has. It's definitely uncirculated.

Probably MS-63. The seller is probably referring to the fact that Miss Liberty's hair is not fully struck, which at quick glance may give one the impression that there is "wear" in the hair area above her ear.

These are very common in MS-63 & 64, and are easy to pick up for CDN prices in certified slabs. However, if you love the reverse rim toning, then it seems like a respectable coin in the $35-$45 price range.
