Can someone help with a grade on this?

OK I'm gonna try this one time- hope it comes out. What would you grade this? It has been graded by PCGS. now I'm curious to see what you all think.

    I'd say AU-53.
  • It's hard to tell from the image but I'd say it's an AU coin.

The image is too small to give a good guess, but I'd also say AU baised on the pic.

Looks like every bit of 53, could be 55 or even 58. Heck, could be mint state. Try the "zoom" and "crop" functions image

55 at best, but would like to see in hand
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

I have a feeling we're the victim of a bad photograph. That dark coloring which makes it look AU may be a lighting artifact. I won't be surprised if the original poster comes back reporting it's an MS-something-or-other.

  • No one on this planet can grade a coin like this with the picture provided----although Mr. Kiefer's enlargement helps. It's an matter of LUSTER< LUSTER< LUSTER-----and I can NOT see it from picture!!!!!!!!!! Want a grade range? EF-45 to MS-65!

  • ADDED POST: Because of the terrible photo, or should I claim old age and not computer savvy?
this 84 started out as a ms64 back in 90, I felt compelled one evening(drunkon my arse) to take
a #4 straight blade chisel n ballpeen hammer and crack that puppy out! (original PCGS holde I
add) and compare it to a few other morgans I had that were 'raw'. Long story short= sent it back
to pcgs for a grade along with a few others under that free submission thing and got a 62 instead.
I still have the OGH and some original 35mm shots of it in this holder- that I will send off to pcgs
to see if they will reholder at it's original grade. I know i did not show a reverse on this due to kb
size- but it's a CC and should bear the newer designation of pl along with it. Thanks to all who
    gave it a AU???

    First of all image

Your picture looks like a scan, a scanner usually shows detail very well, but doesn't show much luster. On my scanner, after you scan the first time, there is a broken line around the outside of the picture. If you put your cursor over it, you can drag the lines to only scan the part you want and rescan that area larger (mine shows a magnifing glass with a "+" on it) that let's you get rid of all the extra white in the scan.

Try playing with it, with a little practice you should be able to get us some closer pictures that we can grade better. My scanner likes copper---

and circulated coins, but does a lousy job on uncirculated.

  • Thanks Becky, I'll have the wife help me on this- I hate computers with a passion, even though our society now demands that every house must have 2 (as in my case =3). image
  • NOOB Question. How can any of u tell what grade that is? Do u have a zoom or enhancement feature on yor puter?
Thx (this is not a smart a** quest)
