Will PCGS grade it or will it be BB?

for a long time. I imagine this will make them BB it, but perhaps not.
If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!

Not just Braddick but so is Colorfulcoins who is paying huge rewards for low grade modern cent and clads coins.
Here's the deal, send it into PCGS. If the coin is damage-free (gradable condition) PCGS will grade the coin. If they can determine the date and its otherwise gradeable, they will slab it and I'll pay for the coin! If the coin is gradeable BUT the date or mint mark cannot be determined by PCGS (in which case they will not slab it), PCGS should refund the submission fee (but not shipping). I have submitted several coins that have fallen into this category where PCGS refunded my submission fee and they could not ascertain the date/MM. Give it a shot - the upside is HUGE! remember, I'm offering $1000 for a clad PO01 by 3/1/05.....so you still have plenty of time for economy or Regular service!

<< <i>Since when does PCGS start giving refunds if it got a bodybag? >>
The only time I've ever heard of them returning a grading fee was with a 1797 British two pence that wouldn't fit in the slab. I've never heard of them returning it because the coin wasn't slabbable for any reason other than size..

If that is the case, why can't it be slabbed with a grade of PO00??
99.99% sure I nailed the date as 1917 (can’t possibly see the small bit of the last digit as being anything other than a 7, so gotta be 1917). If the mint mark (or "lack" of one) is identifiable, pretty sure I’ve got a PO-1 mercury dime.
Last two pics taken through my (new) 10x loupe.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN REFUNDS FOR BB's. We are talking about coins that would holder if the date/mm was discernible.
Re the Merc, yep it sure does look like a 1917 date. Send it in and if it comes back PO01, I'll buy it from you as I have a FR02 today and that would be a nice downgrade for me. As a comparison, here';s my 1918 FR02:

Comparing mercury dimes (this 1917 being the oldest I have), and comparing the position of the leaves and mintmarks, if this coin had a mint mark, it, imho, is completely obliterated. Unless there were slight differences between 1917 Philly, Denver, and SF mint coins for the mercury dime, it wont be graded because of the inability to know the mint...
If I were a hard-core collector, worked a good 40-hr week, and got paid a decent wage ($6/hr is NOT decent, and hardly even enough to live on. Thankfully I still live with my mother and step father, so I only have to pay $200 a month to them for my own "bills".), then maybe I'd have some nice coins to send to PCGS and ANACS.
Your dime looks quite a bit better than mine, too (not that a FR-2 looks much better than a PO-1). 99% certain mine wouldn't grade. It would, however, be neat as hell to get it graded as a PO-1, with a known mint (which would blow my mind. Would love to know how it was found out if it were). If it were graded and slabbed, I'm not sure I'd even want to sell it then.

I've seen this before on a Roosie and I do not think that it is wear. Even from the photographs you can still detect good reeding on the edges. I would suggest this was produced from a very worn oil filled die-set coupled with general circulation. Would PCGS grade it? I think not! Would they body bag it? I don't really know. It's your money........
