<< <i>Lucy...........how about some cool Ford custom rods instead of those common Chevy rods?.

Yea now you are talking, a nice old '29 model "A" with an all ford drive train including a nice beefed 289 Mustang motor and trans.

Frankies and Mercs are butt ugly.

we are building my 66 Mustang right now with a crate 302 with 400 HP. 150 HP shot of nitrous, 9 inch rear end, AOD transmission. a few other things as well. Should be complete in a week to 10 days.
sweet man.....I have a 66 fastback in bone stock...was my dads since 1969, pony interior 289.....thats what prompted me to build a hot 67.....cant ruin a stock 66 with history.
I love the reverse shift pattern....no blown shifts on the C-4......but I am on my third tranny.....just too much power.
My last quarter mile I wrinkled the roof.... the one before that i went to a 2.5 inch pulley and dialed in 15 psi boost, got greedy with 12 slicks and pulled the front wheels.....also couple with a tach with a redline limiter set at 6500....well on the way down I bounced a bit and the tach slid over to 8500.......well sunken heads and a blown water pump later.......get the idea........now its off to the barn for a rebuild to street duty.
Good luck with yours.

I say Type 1 1956 Frankies in high grade proofs are common as grass !
302 in a 69 Stang VS: a 302 in a 69 Camaro ?
Get real !
To spice things up coinwise.... Hey ER, my '94 is better than your '94.
Thats a channeled 5 window coupe,dont think they built 5 windows in 29 !
Also guaranty thats a 32 Grill !
400 Horse crate 302 on a single 4 bbl ?
Not with out the GT40 Heads and about 12 to 1 pistons
Pump gas ? Forget it !

Boss 302 vs Z28, one of the great debates of all time.
It's still a boring small block Chevy, however.
tHE OLD BOSS 302 VS 302 CHEVY DEBATE EH ?
Which car kicked ass in Trans Am in 69 ?
On the street ?
<< <i>..............To spice things up coinwise.... Hey ER, my '94 is better than your '94. >>

1969 Chevy 78 points
1969 Ford 64 points
Of course we don't want to talk about 1970
So, why didn't Chevy build a hemispherical chamber motor again?
At least Ford could keep up with Dodge in NASCAR.

Actually they did make five window coupes in 1929 . Go to a BIG hot rod show or a show geared toward pre 1940 cars and you will see a few '29 five window coupes. They are rare in a street rod set up compared to the common '32-'34 models but there are a few of them around, you are correct it does have a '32 grill on it as the guy who built it was a highly skilled craftsmen and put together a very unique ride.
The car is an all metal body (NO fiberglass) and was built by an engineer who specializes in race cars, you can see before during and after pictures here http://www.myautozoo.com/29ford.htm The car has a unique uni-body design, the doors were countersunk so they are flush mounted into the body and the top was chopped without altering the original swing out windshield design which still works. The car won the Coolest Rod award at the Good Guys 14th Great Lakes Nationals show in Sept. 2003, there is a picture of it in the March 2004 issue of the Good Guys Gazette.

Ford guy all the way but this is not a boring engine even if GM built it.
Ken
My little hopped up 4 banger Chevy Corsica could prolly take ya. That baby does 0-60 in 2 weeks!
Chris
we added the forged pistons, MSD distributor and a few other goodies
the dream goes something like this:
351W with a 9.5" deck, stroked and poked to 427ci, huge heads(aluminum), big 4bbl or injected to make the 12psi boost easier and a bullet proof trans......................4:10 posi and pocket full of cash.......ahhhh a small block with big block displacement and high rpm's........it would kill em to the tune of low 10's and still be streetable.
69 Roachrunner w/a 426 Hemi VS a 69 Camaro COPO ZL1 or L88 car ?
Camaro,Hands Down !
Oldnewbie,
Chevrolet never built a Hemi Head engine Like the Boss 429 or the 426 Mopig engines
Was a canted valve engine !

I'm well aware of that, I was asking why they didn't.
Cant answer the hemi ?
There was a rare nascar engine around 64-65,they called a mark III something between a 409 type engine and the rat motor, never have seen one.
Also not to forget that GM offically pulled out of motorsports around 1961 !
As a point of reference, there was an overhead valve hemi head conversion kit for the flathead ford called an ARDUN, Short for Zora Arkus Duntov
Any body ?
At 4600ft above sea level on those gravel/dirt roads above Asheville. Come and get some suckers!

ARDUN heads are "Too Cool for School."
Does not the 55 DeSoto have an odd ball Hemi ?
Like a 330 vs the Chrysler 331/354/392 ?
Or was it the smaller Red Ram 277 ?
Next door niehbor had a model A Roadster with a 55 Chrysler 300,354 Hemi heads and an 871 blower on 30 % nitro
Ran like 230 MPH at Bonneville around 1977 !
Back in the day we called em CARBS,short for Carburetor
That happens to be an Edelbrock 625 CFM reproduction of a Carter AFB "Aluminum Four Barrel"
Still would like to have a 64 Comet Cyclone with a 347 Stroker, solid lifters,Top Loader 4 Gear or a world class 5 speed and a 9 Inch rear.
Make it sound like a 271 Horse car !
And im a Chevy guy all the way !
Never did get a decent flame goin round here, and most people have no idea what we are talking about !
Nor do they care !
