eBay coin sellers...Ever end auctions on Turkey day?

ManorcourtmanManorcourtman Posts: 8,021 ✭✭✭✭✭
Anyone have any experiences selling on eBay Thanksgiving day.....specifically that night? Seems like a night that would attract a decent size audience. I think I remember last year to take note to put some stuff up that night. Any thoughts?

I was wondering the same thing?
I normally run my auctions on Thursday but was wondering if this week I needed to wait till Sunday?

I only listed one coin to end on Thanksgiving, but made it a free shipping deal in honor of the holiday.

It seems to me that only people who have no life would be bidding on Thanksgiving Day. Advantage Russ!

  • No but snipes'll be set PRIOR to the holiday AND I'll be enjoying Thanksgiving with the family - a 2-fer. image
  • I already have my Turkey Day snipes ready to lock and load!

No, bad time for sellers, good time for buyers.

Interesting responses. Although I have a life as we all (Even Russ, I'd bet) do, I'm going to 'spearament and try it this year.
  • I'm planning on scanning Thanksgiving auctions tonight, and have my snipe bot do the dirty work!

I agree that it would be lousy to end Thanksgiving. I usually end auctions on Sundays and accidentally listed to end one July 4th this past summer. Very disappointing results.

Decided to look for buying bargains that end on holidays from now on.

I am considering starting a few on Thanksgiving though.

  • Experience has taught me (on several occasions - I'm a little slow sometimes) that ending on a holiday (or even in the days adjacent to a holiday) is a very bad idea for sellers.

    Seriously... don't do it.

So, you and Marty are going to be HOGGING ALL the bargains AGAIN!!!
Is that what you are trying to say? image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I wouldn't put anything up this late except a 3-dayer.
Listing on turkey day would be an excellent idea tho.
This is the hottest time on eBay, and I would list all products with FREE shipping - if not dirt cheap.

If selling on Thanksgiving, put your items up with a reasonable "Buy It Now" and an opening bid that is just slightly less. The worst that can happen is that you lose the listing fees if nobody bids. I wouldn't risk a "true auction."

In my opinion, the best time of the year to sell on there is the week after Thanksgiving. Just promise that all items will be shipped in time for the holidays, and you're in business.

  • So how are everyone's ebay items doing?
