Oh boy- Neat buffalo cherrypick!!

This ranks as my #2 all time best buffalo variety cherrypick. This is a 1917D 3 1/2 legger in PCGS MS64. Not noted on the holder, but the variety nonetheless.

Sweet find. But if that is only your #2 all-time cherrypick, inquiring minds wanna know - what was #1?

    awesome!!!

    where'd you snag that??

I often check those and the 36d's for that variety! I once cherried a raw 17d that ANACS called a F15.
  • Nice score, man! Yes, tell us - what was your #1 all-time cherry?

  • Hehe... I forgot to say... the #1 was a 1918/7D in G for $7. I sold it right before they skyrocketted for $325. I wish I could take that one back! *Sigh*

  • And to answer another question- I found this one in the regular "Buy now" inventory at Heritage.
  • Anyone have a guess at what this might be worth? I know Heritage had one in MS63 in one of their auction catalogs a while back, but I can't seem to find a price realized for that coin anywhere. It would be interesting to see what this one would bring at auction. I might send it to NGC to get the variety on the label, however. What's funny is that in the package with the coin was a certificate for a free consignment with Heritage for this coin when I decide to sell it. That includes 0% commission on the final sale price. Quite a deal if they would advertise it properly as the variety and I could turn a quick buck or two.

Great cherry pick! I always look for the three leggers. I look for two feathers, missing initials, rotated dies, doubled dies, RPMs and 3 1/2 leggers on all buffalo nickels!

    YOU SUCK!

  • Terrific find. Congratulations.

One of these which also was unattributed was being offered at a Fort Worth show in a PCGS AU55 for $1,500 several years ago. I do not know if it sold.
