What would you do if some sleeze bag stole your picture? Updated- Listing yanked!

This is my picturePhoto Piracy

This is a file photo used in item # 3938939097 that ended 11-8 as shown hereProof

It is currently being used again simply by using the relist feature as proven here

I'd appreciate some input. It's a clear cut case of photo theft which violates ebay policies as well as out and out fraud. It's not the cost that matters, it's the principle because had I not run it first, before him it makes it look like I've stolen HIS picture. In fact, someone asked me about this tonite using the ask the seller a question feature. His auction ends before mine so you can see my concern, however, there is the proof that I ran it first, ending 11-8. I suppose he thought that since my auction was over with, that would be that. Don't they place identifying watermarks on pix now?

  • Did you contact the seller and tell them to stop using your pic?

I'd personally call or contact eBay and get this resolved as promptly as possible.

Contact E-bay and give them the info. Had this happen several times before. E-bay either pulls THEIR auction or tells them to pull it. Good luck. Ray

Thanks guys, I went to live chat and that was a waste of time so I clicked help up at the top right and was brought to where you must leave email which usually takes way too long to get a response. I have Customer Servise's number around here somewhere.

Guess I'll be giving them a call in a few hours and yes I had a few choice words to tell the seller....no expletives or profanity of any sort but I believe he'l (I can't believe I'm about to write this)....I believe he'll GET THE PICTURE.image

I'm laughing at my own play on words but it's not funny at all. This is just the kind of character to steal a picture of an expensive item, pocket the money and leave some poor buyer with nothing to show for their money.

in other venues, it might be a compliment to have someone want to emulate you, but this guy looks like a total bozo loser.

  • Hey Boom,

Why do you say in the title line it is MS68, but say in the description that it
    will grade MS67? image

That feedback is nothing to jump up and down about. I'd complain to ebay if somebody steals my pics.

  • I hate when auctions use stock pics without telling you even if it is their own pic.

  • Robgetty.
The auction you are refering to is not Boom's. The second two belong to Boom. The first
    "Photo Piracy" is someone else.
  • Why did you relist using the same pic if the first one sold?

Report the other guy to eBay under the VERO program, it will get pulled as soon as you fill out the VERO form and submit it.
  • Another good reason to use linked pictures. If someone 'steals' your auction pic by linking it you can pull a switch on them with a pic that is quite embarassing image

Some members here enjoy that kind of 'fun' once in a while image

    Warren,
I sent a report to ebay just to try and help out with the situation.

I was wondering the same thing. He doesn't say anywhere in the auction that the picture isn't a pic of the coin he's selling.

Maybe the first buyer returned it? I remember once an eBay seller tried to stick me with one of these "stock photo" switcheroo coins, and I was none too pleased image

So that would be my input, Boom. Use a picture of the coin you're selling.
  • Return that fast? The first auction ended November 8th and the next auction was the 14th. Thats 6 days. Mailing to the buyer and back to boom? I highly doubt it in that short of time frame.

That other chump is saying that it is MS 68. Every negative he has revolves around people not receiving anything. I can see why. You can't sell what you don't have.

My live auction is 3941407250. That is but one file photo from a roll in which they all look that exact same way. Every coin in that roll looks exactly like that one and that is why I re-used it, plain and simple. If it didn't I simply would have taken a new photo.

Item # 3938939097 which ended on the 8th is where Mr oneinamillion2112 copied my photo!

Good point kief and xpipe but this is the answer. Be back later. Have a few things to attend to. Thanks for chatting with me everyone.image
  • I see the guy has a perfect ebay rating. 100%. Buy something from him and give him a negative rating. lol.
    Is that mean or what?

I hate when sellers don't mention they are using a stock photo. And $4 to ship a quarter? Does that come with a reach around?
