as for what it would take to make me ATTACK And HATE Barry Bonds the way you and other here do: There is only one thing I have ever asked for... something yet to be provided... it is very simple...

what proof do you need? Bond's trainer said he gave Bonds roids...you think he just made that up? I think your eyes are closed here, you don't want to even imagine someone being better than Bonds. Its really to bad (for most of us), that we never saw just how dominating Williams was. Bonds is so much better than everyone today in the game that we just assume he would be the same no matter when he played.
I have no problem putting Bonds in the top 3 hitters of all time and top 5 overall but he is tops in neither. 1000 homers won't change my view and neither would 5 more MVP's. If he comes out and hits .400 or wins a triple crown then Ill be the first here to say I was wrong. There have been amazing hitters who hit for average and then amazing power hitters, but there has NEVER been a person to hit for both like Williams did.

I have to disagree with the comments about it doesn't matter what kind of personality they have.
Babe Ruth is THE KING of baseball (although he had a drinking and woman problem) because he was the kindest person to kids and fans. He always went out of his way for charity reasons and to please the fans.
If you go to the ballpark, you love a guy who not only plays well, but respects the game, and respects the fans.
Joe Stalin is right that the fans make them millionaires, and they need to respect the game and the fans that made them heros.
Once you've lost respect for the game by cheating (AROD), or steriods (God knows how many do it), then you should go down in history as a cheater.
The Babe and Cal Ripken aren't perfect like anybody else, but there were never two players who exemplified respecting the game better then these two. Well, maybe Gehrig, and some others.
Perkdog - off topic response to your off topic comment. Fans have a great influence on some salaries. Teams have to put asses in the seats, in addition to corporate sponsorships, TV, et al. That's why a guy like Palmiero gets bucks in Balto now, and Ripken got big bucks before him for his last five years, despite statistics.
