  • Details are there, depends on the luster.
  • To me it looks cleaned.

Do you see hairlines, or is it the color?

  • AU-50 maybe. Looks dull in the pic. Got a better pic under harsher light?

Looks to be a serious scratch on the upper cheek. Is it as bad as it appears?
    When in doubt, don't.

It looks like an AU50 but the worse case would be XF45 You really cant grade coins by just a pic one needs the coin in hand

AU 53 or 55 but the mint mark does not look right. Check to see if it has been added. Admittedly it would be weird to add a mark to a $400 coin.

I will check the coin once I get it in hand. I rolled the dice and took a chance on it for $130.00. I will follow up once I have the coin in hand and post my own pictures.
  • I've seen all kinds of strange marks from normal circulation. The only concern is potential hairlines or the funny obverse toning around 6-7 o'clock that might be from humid storage. In terms of detail and remaining luster, it looks like there's potential for anything from AU-50 to 55. At the price paid, you weren't taking all that big a risk anyway and all it may need is professional dip to remove the possible contaminent on lower obverse, and/or see the luster clearly.

Details are there for AU, but it looks like it may have been cleaned. Also, those gouges on the cheek may be a problem.

Those new pix are a little scary -- those marks, yikes. Even if it has not been cleaned, I think it might have trouble getting to au50. I would not risk the money trying to slab this coin. Very nice aus can be picked up that are affordable.

Not reading any of the comments so far (honest!), I'd say details are at least AU-50, maybe AU-53. But I'm not sure it hasn't been cleaned in the past. And those hits on the cheek are a problems.

Detail-wise it looks like a solid AU.

BUT, if the images are accurate, I think it has been cleaned, especially on the obverse, (to the point where it would be body-bagged) and has since retoned. I hope I am incorrect about that.

with my luck it would go body bag and net xf at best and anacs

I agree the detail is sufficient for AU50, but the marks in the grade sensitive center of the cheek will knock it down to EF, IMO

Even if it's NT, it will bodybag for damage.
