No, just a forum junkie. I do not have the time to be a junkie of more than one activity.

    Nope, never submitted one.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Sometimes I stand at the end of the highway exit ramp with a sign that says "will work for coin submisson money".image

I'd like to be, but I'm poor so I have to live vicariously through Marty.

Russ, then my I suggest standing by the side of the road with a sign or maybe giving blood for submisson money. Of course there are also alot of aluminium cans to be picked up.image

I usually do about 1 or 2 small submissions a year to PCGS. IMO it's a complete waste of money to constantly submit coins to the 3rd party graders unless you play the crackout / crossover lotto game looking for upgrades, or you are a dealer who buys large raw collections, or you play the modern game and throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks so to speak.

I always have to laugh when I see someone here post their submission results of a bunch of coins they broke out of proof or mint sets or whatever, spent a couple hundred dollars, didn't get any of the grades they wanted, and the coins aren't even worth what they spent to have them graded. It's a vicious circle, with usually only one clear winner in the end.

I think the big casinos in Las Vegas should have a new table game where they put a bunch of random PCGS coins out on a table, and you pick out which ones you think will upgrade........
  • Only to PCGS, since they are the best

dragon...I don't believe it is a waste of money if you know what you are doing.( In no way am I implying that I know what I am doing)image As a matter of fact I think it is the best way to get bargins in certified coins....make them yourself.

I submit to PCGS probably a dozen times a year... almost all circ. Morgans that are either much better dates or tough varieties. Last year I started getting very good at predicting what the grades would be, which has made buying raw coins MUCH more enjoyable.

I have 21 in now that should just about be done.
    When in doubt, don't.

I'm a "junkie" in the sense that my palms itch and I twitch uncontrollably when I get close to the due date of my invoices and I know my next "fix" of grades is coming. I only submit two or three times a year, though.

Hi my name is Mad Marty and I am a submission addict! It has been less than a day since I mailed in my last submission.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I thought I kicked the habit after submitting 445 coins this year, but I've got another 126 in current submissions and about 50 more I need to submit.

I average about one submission of 4 or 5 coins per year, all but two submitted to ANACS (one to PCGS and one to NGC).
