I think it might be as it doesn't look as large as the usual "s", however I still thought it should be just a little smaller. What do others think?

If its a small "S" its a Vam 2. Breen 5697. What condition is the coin in?

It looks like a v2 to me. The small 'S' is tightly packed looking where the large 'S' has spaces. Here's a picture of one I sold a while back:

It was a nice coin that graded somewhere in the VG-F range. It was a nice rip and I made over 4x on the resell, so I was pleased. The one I have in my collection grades at XF that I picked up a year or two ago. I could clean up real nicely on that coin but this is a tough coin to find in any grade so I'll keep it until something better comes along.

the 1903-s micro s is quite rare above EF. Even decent EF examples are tough.

I'm semi-certain it's a micro-S.

XF is the BIG achievement for this variety, and AU is bragging rights territory. Even VF is a good coin to have.
