  • Do you have a closer up pic of the mintmark? I see the S but barely and not enough to tell which type it is.

  • I think it might be as it doesn't look as large as the usual "s", however I still thought it should be just a little smaller. What do others think?
  • If its a small "S" its a Vam 2. Breen 5697. What condition is the coin in?image

It looks like a v2 to me. The small 'S' is tightly packed looking where the large 'S' has spaces. Here's a picture of one I sold a while back:

  • Jeff, you are probably correct. The one you had looks like it was beauty
  • It was a nice coin that graded somewhere in the VG-F range. It was a nice rip and I made over 4x on the resell, so I was pleased. The one I have in my collection grades at XF that I picked up a year or two ago. I could clean up real nicely on that coin but this is a tough coin to find in any grade so I'll keep it until something better comes along.

the 1903-s micro s is quite rare above EF. Even decent EF examples are tough.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

    I'm semi-certain it's a micro-S.

XF is the BIG achievement for this variety, and AU is bragging rights territory. Even VF is a good coin to have.
    When in doubt, don't.

this is a complete picture of the obverse. incase you are wondering about the condition

    Jeff,

how did you get the picture directly on the thread? instead of attachment.

    thanks,

    SNMAN,

Adelphia, like most internet providers give their subscribers free web space so I have images uploaded there. If your image is available via some web source, when you enter your message here, you can click on the button that looks like a framed pictured (fourth from the left) and enter the exact URL of your image. This provides the correct HTML behinds the scenes to include your image in with your message post. The downside is that if I ever decide to remove the image from my web space, it will no longer show up here (aka the red X).
