Yep, the curse of the overgraded Barber coin strikes again. Poor dealer, he has been in business over 35 years (per his Ebay description) but just hasn't got the grading details down for the easily gradeable Barber coinage.
I wonder if I sent this dealer some scans with the same amount of detail and asked what his VF buy price would be. I have done it a few times, and oddly I never get a response or an offer to buy.
Maybe he literally meant it was really very fine, i.e. super nice, very neat, very choice, super neat-looking. (notice he never actually uses the term “VF”).
Hmmmmm…..maybe he’s lawyer?

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
dudes, give the guy a break, your getting way to worked up over the "grade". it's a strong fine, & the difference in value between F & VF for this issue is very slight.
Give the man a break. At least he's providing a picture that allows you to realisticly grade the coin your self.
It reminds me of an eBay dealer that's been mentioned before... kappyscoins. His stated grades seemed to always be about a step higher than what I though it should be, but who cared. He always provided excelent images that would allow you to judge the grade for your self, so he was always in my favored sellers list.
Don't laugh the degredation of circulated grades has been going on for a long time.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Not long ago we saw an '09-O that had a strong LIBERTY but mostly VG details.
Now we're seeing a coin with probably VG-10 details on LIBERTY, but Fine details elsewhere.
Oh rats, they used the word "FINE."

Bill, I think you're right on....but what's two or three grades off among friends?
