righton said it. He posted right above you.

Actually the PCGS Price Guide lists the 2001-D NY SHQ for $400 in MS67.

righton - the Price Guide is not an accurate picture of what the coins sell for. At best, it is the full retail price you would expect to pay at a brick & mortar coin shop with high overhead.

I wouldn't pay $150 for one, but I guess some people will.

I wouldn't have, no state quarter should be that much, IMO.

They have been under $150 for a LONG time. In fact, I can have them drop shipped for well under $100/coin right now (I sold out of the last (75) coins I got in earlier this year). Overall, the coins I have seen are nice - but, it is true that "d" mint state quarters from year 2000 and 2001 can come wee bit hazy as they came that way often right from the mint (although most PCGS-MS67 coins are haze-free I have seen).

Personally, I would not spend $150.00 for a 2 or 3 year old coin. I used to do the modern thing and still like them, but if I don't make the grade myself, then I will not buy it.

Most of my moderns are IKEs of which I made all the ones I have. I only bought one PCGS IKE and it was a 71D in 66. My other three 66s and my 65s I made all those. Same with my SBAs.
  • Thanks for the info.
