Picked up a nice 1982 cent with the so called "Roof Flames" today. Cost me a whole $1.99. I think it is a neat error cent

  • That is weird. I was expecting a die clash, not a die crack. Especially a crack that splits and then starts curving back and forth over itself.

I have been looking for one of these for quite a while. I saw it described in coin world or one of the other coin magazines about 6 months ago. It is a strange one....
  • IS that the usual place the die crack is on the reverse?
I have a 1982 proof lincoln that has a die crack across the same spot.

I don't know, mine is an 82-P. Interesting that a proof coin would have the same type of error.

  • Neat coin! I hadn't seen that before!

Too bad that guy who did error die cracks (KINGCOIN? KINGOFCOINS?) got banned. he would be all over this thread.

I'm picturing a PMM quarter placed above this coin and a little to the left of it.
