Sorry, I would rather talk about the GTG fiasco. image

Actually, the toning is neat, but I agree that the grade is probably not very high.

Hey George- It's very AT, and has been subjected to extremely high heat.....probably a propane heater. The "splotchy" colors give it away. You can also see black burn marks on the rev. No grade....BB. Sorry just my opinion, Chris

I would call that H.I.T (heat induced toning)

Of course, I could be dead wrong. image

Geez! Cut him some slack - if he likes it, he likes it, AT or not. For that matter, I kinda like it too.

  • Hey take a looky at the "POST A 5 CENT Toned THREAD". Some neat nickels. For a lousey 5 bucks it seems you got at lot of useful information to save some dough in the future. Until I saw the other thread, I wouldn't have had a clue what NT on a nickel looked like.

  • Sorry i thought it was funny, epically with all the pictures of the "outdoor fire place" and the "flame thrower" thingy made here lately. As you can tell I am new here and just wanted to get in on the chat, I was not implying that you made a bad purchase or anything like that, I would have not known any better, I can see the difference now looking at all the other toned coins.

It's not really a good joke to suggest to someone to AT coins... I mean, it's one thing to experiment with ATing yourself to educate yourself to be able to spot it... but, usually the jokes and harassament comes out of sellers trying to pass of Artifically Toned coins as "Natural" and this is certainly not the case here.........

George- Although I'd never advise anyone to submit a coin to PCI......If you go to there website they actually do a very good job explaining Art. Toning. Chris

BTW it's www.pcicoins.com ......Sorry, but this is an educational thread to many new people. It does an excellent job explaining the "Coin Doctors"
